Focus Now Turns to Watkins Glen After the Summer Break

 

July 2, 2024 – It was a trip to Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, and the famed 4.048-mile, 14-turn Road America this past weekend for Caleb Bacon and CB Motorsports. Taking on the Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli, Bacon had one of his stronger qualifying performances of the season and drove into the top-ten before contact from another competitor slowed his pace and relegated him down the running order.

“It was a tough end to what started out as a good weekend,” explained Chad Bacon, Owner of CB Motorsports. “We showed a strong pace in practice with both Caleb and Pippa Mann, who was here to test one of our cars, and continued that into qualifying. Unfortunately, being taken out in the race while inside the top-ten is how our weekend ended.”

While Mann only sampled Trans Am machinery on Thursday’s test day, Bacon competed throughout the weekend. Showing top-ten speeds, a solid qualifying effort netted him a row six starting position in the 31-driver grid. Beginning his quest for results from P12, Bacon moved his way forward to the eighth position before an over-anxious competitor got into the back of the #18 machine and sent him off course.

“It sucks for sure, as I think we had a top-five car today,” added Caleb Bacon, Driver of the #18 Ford Mustang. “The car felt good early in the race, and as the laps clicked off, it improved. I hate it for the guys, as I think they all deserve the results we should have had today.”

Despite the struggles, Bacon did not quit and finished the race in the 22nd position.

Bacon added, “There is no quit in this team, and we will be back for more after our summer break at the Watkins Glen in August.”

Caleb Bacon and the CB Motorsports Trans Am Series team will enjoy a long hiatus before returning to the track at Watkins Glen International over the August 21-25 weekend with four more event weekends on the Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli season.
