CB Motorsports and Caleb Bacon Earn Top-Ten Finish at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course

Focus Shifts to Road America This Week

June 24, 2024 – It is a busy stretch of racing for the Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli as the series has back-to-back race weekends in Ohio and Wisconsin. Competing at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this past weekend, CB Motorsports and Caleb Bacon will travel to Road America in Elkhart Lake to battle again this coming weekend. Fresh off a top-ten result after starting deep in the field, Bacon will look for more in The Dairy State as CB Motorsports adds John Weisberg to the driver lineup.

After a test day on Thursday and practice on Friday morning, it was time for the ever-important qualifying session on Friday afternoon. Turning his quickest lap of the session on lap seven, Bacon put his CB Motorsports #18 machine in the 19th position.

“It was not the qualifying we wanted, nor this team deserves,” explained Bacon. “We will regroup tonight and refocus for tomorrow in an effort to drive forward and into the top-ten.”

Back to the track Saturday for the 45-lap affair, Bacon demonstrated once again that he had the race craft to drive through the field and add another top-ten finish to his results resume. Despite not having the quickest car, Caleb would race with his elbows out and charge forward. He finished ninth overall and eighth in the TA2 class despite being hit, causing him to spin on only the fourth lap and relegating him down the running order and to the tail of the field.

Bacon continued, “Again, we put ourselves on the back foot with qualifying deeper in the field than we should have, and then with the contact, I was all the way at the back. We drove forward again to earn a top-ten result, which is great for both myself and the team but seems to be a common theme in 2024. We will give it a go again next weekend.”

It is a quick turnaround for Bacon, CB Motorsports, and the rest of the Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli drivers as they move north to Wisconsin for another event this weekend as they ready to take on the famed 4.048-mile Road America in Elkhart Lake.
