The Trans Am Race Company, LLC to Assume Management of Trans Am Series
BRASELTON, Ga. -An iconic American road racing series enters a new and exciting chapter of its storied history with today's announcement that the Trans Am Race Company, LLC will assume management of the Trans Am(r) Series from SCCA Pro Racing(r) beginning with the 2012 season.

Through a five-year agreement with options for renewal, the Trans Am Race Company will assume full marketing rights to the series and will be responsible for Trans Am Series public relations and promotions. SCCA Pro Racing will continue to sanction Trans Am events and provide contracted event operations services to the series.

"SCCA Pro Racing has the utmost appreciation for the incredible history of Trans Am racing built up over the past 45 years," said SCCA Pro Racing President Tom Campbell. "At this time, however, we just don't have the resources to support growing the series to where we all want it to go. Based on the many conversations I've had over the past several months with Trans Am Race Company principals, I am confident in this group's plans for Trans Am. We look forward to providing sanctioning and event operations, which is an area of strength for SCCA Pro Racing, and to what we see as a bright future for Trans Am."

The Trans Am Race Company is owned by a passionate group of Trans Am team owners and competitors with a long history of success and a desire to return the series to prominence within the American road racing landscape. The President of the Trans Am Race Company is John Clagett, who returns to Trans Am in a leadership role. Clagett had a 22-year affiliation with SCCA Pro Racing and the Trans Am Series, most recently as Executive Director of Trans Am in 2005 when Champ Car operated and sanctioned the series.

"Trans Am is proud to be based on Detroit iron and is poised to return to greatness, just as America's car makers are showing resilience and making a turnaround as well," Clagett said. "The Trans Am technical format and competition are pillars of strength, and our focus will be to bring additional resources to strengthen the marketing and promotion of the series. It is our responsibility to put in place a value proposition that delivers a strong return on investment for all stakeholder groups, including sponsors, promoters and featured marques."

Randy Hembrey, who has served as Trans Am Series Manager for the past three years with SCCA Pro Racing, will continue with Trans Am as its Director of Competition.

Efforts are well underway to assemble a 2012 schedule that will bring Trans Am racing to its many passionate fans at historic venues and important race markets across North America. Plans for broadcasting 2012 races and negotiations with promotional partners are also in process, with announcements forthcoming at the appropriate time.
