Childcare Centres

On Campus

The on-campus childcare centres are staffed by professionally qualified early childhood educators. Each centre is separately incorporated as a not-for-profit and is licensed by the Province of Ontario. Childcare subsidies may be available. Please visit Childcare for more information. The centres give priority to University of Toronto families. Contact each centre directly to be placed on its waiting list.

The waiting lists for the U of T childcare centres are very long. You are advised to apply early. U of T community members, please contact us if you need assistance finding alternative child care arrangements while waiting for an on-campus childcare spot.

University of Toronto Early Learning Centre (3 locations)

The Early Learning Centre (ELC)’s program philosophy is based on an inclusive, bias free environment that is organized around the four foundational conditions of How Does Learning Happen? (Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years): Belonging, Well-Being, Engagement, and Expression. Learn more about the ELC.

Infant spaces at the Glen Morris location; Toddler and Preschool spaces at all locations. 

The ELC is a department of the University of Toronto, and its priority is to enroll children of University students, staff and faculty.

University of Toronto Child Care Centre on Charles

Located in the University’s Family Housing student residences, the Child Care Centre on Charles provides full -time and part-time care. This centre is operated by George Brown College and serves as a training Lab School for the students from the Early Childhood Education programs at the College.

Priorities for enrolment:

  • Infant and Toddler spaces only available to residents of the U of T Student Family Housing.
  • Community spaces available for children in the preschool group.

Campus Community Cooperative Day Care Centre

  • Families affiliated with the University of Toronto and who have siblings attending the daycare
  • Families affiliated with the University of Toronto

N’sheemaehn Child Care Centre

Nestled in the woods at the UTSC, N’sheemaehn Child Care Centre provides early education and care for 54 children. Every day learning through play in a professional, nurturing, stimulating, and safe environment helps children develop skills and strategies to thrive today and self-govern through their lifetime. N’sheemaehn maintains separate waitlists for each program and each are subject to the priority order (1. current family 2. U of T 3. community).
