Four Vanderbilt track and field athletes will be competing at the US Olympic Trials beginning Friday in Eugene, Ore.

Veronica Fraley (shot put and discus), Giavonna Meeks (hammer throw), Allyria McBride (400 meter hurdles) and Falon Spearman (100 meter hurdles) will all attempt to make Team USA.

Fraley, the 2024 NCAA champion in discus and an All-American and SEC champion in shot put as well, has the best chance of making the team. She also previously competed in Olympic Trials in 2021, when she was at Clemson.

During indoor season, Meeks was named the SEC Co-Freshman Field Athlete of the Year. She was third in the weight throw at the SEC championships.

McBride competed in the 400 meter hurdles in the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Championships and was named a second team All-American.

Spearman, a transfer from Duke, holds the school record in the 100 meter hurdles.

In addition to the four current athletes, four Vanderbilt track alumni will be attempting to qualify for the Olympics for other countries. Brooke Overholt, who finished fourth at NCAA championships in the 400 meter hurdles in 2023, will be attempting to qualify for Canada in the same event. Beatrice Juskeviciute will be attempting to qualify for Lithuania in the heptathlon after being the NCAA runner-up in the event in 2023. Divine Oladipo, who competed for Vanderbilt in 2022, and Sarah Omoregie, a member of the 2024 team, will be attempting to qualify for the British team in shot put, and Oladipo will also be competing in discus.

The 2024 Paris Olympics begin July 26.
