Measurement of the integrated luminosity of data samples collected during 2019-2022 by the Belle II experiment

Abstract: A series of data samples was collected with the Belle II detector at the SuperKEKB collider from March 2019 to June 2022. We determine the integrated luminosities of these data samples using three distinct methodologies involving Bhabha ($e^+e^- \to e^+e^-(nγ)$), digamma ($e^+e^- \to γγ(nγ)$), and dimuon ($e^+e^- \to μ^+ μ^- (nγ)$) events. The total integrated luminosity obtained with Bhabha, digamma, and dimuon events is (426.52 $\pm$ 0.03 $\pm$ 2.48)~fb$^{-1}$, (427.32 $\pm$ 0.03 $\pm$ 2.56)~fb$^{-1}$, and (424.84 $\pm$ 0.04 $\pm$ 3.88)~fb$^{-1}$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. Search for charmed baryons in the $Λ_c^+η$ system and measurement of the branching fractions of $Λ_c(2880)^+$ and $Λ_c(2940)^+$ decaying to $Λ_c^+η$ and $pD^0$ relative to $Σ_c(2455)π$

Abstract: We search for excited charmed baryons in the $Λ_c^+η$ system using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 980 $\rm fb^{-1}$. The data were collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB $e^{+}$$e^{-}$ asymmetric-energy collider. No significant signals are found in the $Λ_c^+η$ mass spectrum, including the known $Λ_c(2880)^+$ and $Λ_c(2940)^+$. We set upper limits at 90\% credibility level on ratios of branching fractions of $Λ_c(2880)^+$ and $Λ_c(2940)^+$ decaying to $Λ_c^+η$ relative to $Σ_c(2455)π$ of $<0.13$ for the $Λ_c(2880)^+$ and $<1.11$ for the $Λ_c(2940)^+$. Search for Two-Body $B$ Meson Decays to $Λ^{0}$ and $Ω^{(*)0}_{c}$

Abstract: We report the results of the first search for Standard Model and baryon-number-violating two-body decays of the neutral $B$ mesons to $Λ^{0}$ and $Ω^{(*)0}_c$ using 711~${\rm fb^{-1}}$ of data collected at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+ e^-$ collider. Search for a pentaquark state decaying into $pJ/ψ$ in $Υ(1,2S)$ inclusive decays at Belle

Abstract: Using the data samples of 102 million $Υ(1S)$ and 158 million $Υ(2S)$ events collected by the Belle detector, we search for a pentaquark state in the $pJ/ψ$ final state from $Υ(1,2S)$ inclusive decays. Here, the charge-conjugate $\bar{p}J/ψ$ is included. We observe clear $pJ/ψ$ production in $Υ(1,2S)$ decays and measure the branching fractions to be… ▽ More Using the data samples of 102 million $Υ(1S)$ and 158 million $Υ(2S)$ events collected by the Belle detector, we search for a pentaquark state in the $pJ/ψ$ final state from $Υ(1,2S)$ inclusive decays. Here, the charge-conjugate $\bar{p}J/ψ$ is included. We observe clear $pJ/ψ$ production in $Υ(1,2S)$ decays and measure the branching fractions to be $\mathcal{B}[Υ(1S) \to pJ/ψ+ anything] = [4.27 \pm 0.16(stat.) \pm 0.20(syst.)] \times 10^{-5}$ and $\mathcal{B}[Υ(2S) \to pJ/ψ+ anything] = [3.59 \pm 0.14(stat.) \pm 0.16(syst.)] \times 10^{-5}$. We also measure the cross section of inclusive $pJ/ψ$ production in $e^+e^-$ annihilation to be $σ(e^+e^- \to pJ/ψ+ anything) = [57.5 \pm 2.1 (stat.) \pm 2.5(syst.)]$~fb at $\sqrt{s} = 10.52~\hbox{GeV}$ using an 89.5~fb$^{-1}$ continuum data sample. There is no significant $P_c(4312)^+$, $P_c(4440)^+$ or $P_c(4457)^+$ signal found in the $pJ/ψ$ final states in $Υ(1,2S)$ inclusive decays. We determine the upper limits of $\mathcal{B}[Υ(1,2S)\to P_c^{+} + anything] \cdot \mathcal{B}(P_c^{+}\to pJ/ψ)$ to be at the $10^{-6}$ level. △ Less

Observation of ${B\to D^{(*)} K^- K^{0}_S}$ decays using the 2019-2022 Belle II data sample

We find the branching fractions to be: \[ \text{B}(B^-\to D^0K^-K_S^0)=(1.89\pm 0.16\pm 0.10)\times 10^{-4}, \] \[ \text{B}(\overline B{}^0\to D^+K^-K_S^0)=(0.85\pm 0.11\pm 0.05)\times 10^{-4},\] \[ \text{B}(B^-\to D^{*0}K^-K_S^0)=(1.57\pm 0.27\pm 0.12)\times 10^{-4}, \] \[ \text{B}(\overline B{}^0\to D^{*+}K^-K_S^0)=(0.96\pm 0.18\pm 0.06)\times 10^{-4},\] where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. These results include the first observation of $\overline B{}^0\to D^+K^-K_S^0$, $B^-\to D^{*0}K^-K_S^0$, and $\overline B{}^0\to D^{*+}K^-K_S^0$ decays and a significant improvement in the precision of $\text{B}(B^-\to D^0K^-K_S^0)$ compared to previous measurements. △ Less

Double-strangeness exchange reactions in a hybrid Regge-plus-resonance approach

Abstract: We investigate double-strangeness exchange reactions, $K^-p\to K^+Ξ^-$ and $K^-p\to K^0Ξ^0$, using an effective Lagrangian approach based on a hybrid Regge-plus-resonance model involving rescattering diagrams. We consider the background processes that include $Λ$, $Σ$, and $Σ(1385)$ Regge trajectories in the $u$ channel and the $s$-channel Born-term diagrams. The $s$-channel hyperon resonances acc… ▽ More We investigate double-strangeness exchange reactions, $K^-p\to K^+Ξ^-$ and $K^-p\to K^0Ξ^0$, using an effective Lagrangian approach based on a hybrid Regge-plus-resonance model involving rescattering diagrams. The $s$-channel $Λ(2100,7/2^-)$ and $Σ(2030,7/2^+)$ resonances contribute significantly, and the $Σ(2250)$ resonance favors $J^P = 7/2^-$. The interference pattern between the $Λ(2100,7/2^-)$ and $Σ(2030,7/2^+)$ amplitudes is essential for describing forward differential cross sections in the resonance region $2.07 < \sqrt{s} < 2.15$ GeV. The absence of the $S=-2$ meson leads to the inclusion of the meson-baryon rescattering diagrams to describe the $K^- p \to KΞ$ reaction data, proving the significant contribution of the $(φ,ρ,ω)$--$(Λ,Σ)$ rescattering diagrams. △ Less

Study of the lineshape of $X(3872)$ using $B$ decays to $D^0\overline{D}{}^{*0}K$

Abstract: We present a study of the $X(3872)$ lineshape in the decay $B \to X(3872)K\to D^0\overline{D}{}^{*0}K$ using a data sample of $772\times 10^6$ $B\overline{B}$ pairs collected at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider. The branching fraction is found to be ${\cal B} (B^+\to X(3872)K^+) \times {\cal{B}}(X(3872) \to D^0\overline{D}{}^{*0}) = (0.97 ^{+0.21}_{-0.18} ({\rm stat}) \pm 0.10 ({\rm syst})) \times 10^{-4}$. The signal from $B^0$ decays is observed for the first time with $5.2σ$ significance, and the ratio of branching fractions between charged and neutral $B$ decays is measured to be ${\cal B}(B^0\to X(3872)K^0)/{\cal B}(B^+ \to X(3872)K^+) = 1.34^{+0.47}_{-0.40} ({\rm stat}) ^{+0.10}_{-0.12} ({\rm syst})$. The peak is also studied using a Flatté lineshape. We determine the lower limit on the $D\overline{D}{}^{*}$ coupling constant $g$ to be $0.075$ at 95% credibility in the parameter region where the ratio of $g$ to the mass difference from the $D^0\overline{D}{}^{*0}$ threshold is equal to $-15.11~{\rm GeV}^{-1}$, as measured by LHCb. △ Less

Measurement of the mass and width of the $Λ_c(2625)^+$ and the branching ratios of $Λ_c(2625)^+ \to Σ_c^{0}π^{+}$ and $Λ_c(2625)^+ \to Σ_c^{++}π^{-}$

The mass difference between $Λ_c(2625)^+$ and $Λ_c^+$ is measured to be… ▽ More Using the entire data sample of $980\,\textrm{fb}^{-1}$ collected with the Belle detector operating at the KEKB asymmetric-energy collider, we report the measurement of the mass, width, and the relative branching ratios of the $Λ_c(2625)^+$ charmed baryon. The mass difference between $Λ_c(2625)^+$ and $Λ_c^+$ is measured to be $M(Λ_c(2625)^{+}) - M(Λ_c^{+}) = 341.518 \pm 0.006 \pm 0.049\ \mathrm{MeV}/\mathit{c}^2$. The upper limit on the width is measured to be $Γ(Λ_c(2625)^+) < 0.52\,\mathrm{MeV}/\textit{c}^2$ at 90\% credibility level. Based on a full Dalitz plot fit, branching ratios with respect to the mode $Λ_c(2625)^+ \to Λ_c^+ π^+ π^-$ are measured to be $\frac{\mathcal{B}(Λ_c(2625)^+ \to Σ_c^{0} π^{+})} {\mathcal{B}(Λ_c(2625)^+ \to Λ_c^+ π^{+} π^{-})} = (5.19 \pm 0.23 \pm 0.40) \%$ and $\frac{\mathcal{B}(Λ_c(2625)^+ \to Σ_c^{++} π^{-})} {\mathcal{B}(Λ_c(2625)^+ \to Λ_c^+ π^{+} π^{-})} = (5.13 \pm 0.26 \pm 0.32) \%$. These measurements can be used to further constrain the parameters of the underlying theoretical models. △ Less

Abstract: We present results on the semileptonic decays $B^0 \to ρ^- \ell^+ ν_\ell$ and $B^+ \to ρ^0 \ell^+ ν_\ell$ in a sample corresponding to 189.9/fb of Belle II data at the SuperKEKB $e^- e^+$ collider. Signal decays are identified using full reconstruction of the recoil $B$ meson in hadronic final states. First Observation of $Λπ^+$ and $Λπ^-$ Signals near the $\bar{K}N (I=1)$ Mass Threshold in $Λ_c^+\rightarrowΛπ^+π^+π^-$ Decay

Abstract: Using the data sample of 980 fb$^{-1}$ collected with the Belle detector operating at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider, we present the results of an investigation of the $Λπ^+$ and $Λπ^-$ invariant mass distributions looking for substructure in the decay $Λ_c^+\rightarrowΛπ^+π^+π^-$. As these two signals are very close to the $\bar{K}N$ threshold, we also investigate the possibility of a $\bar{K}N$ cusp, and find that \ we cannot discriminate between these two interpretations due to the limited size of the data sample. △ Less

We extract the partial decay rates as functions of $w$ and perform a fit to the decay form-factor and the CKM parameter $|V_{cb}|$ using the BGL parameterization of the form factor and lattice QCD input from the FNAL/MILC and HPQCD collaborations. We obtain $η_{EW}|V_{cb}|=(38.53\pm 1.15)\times 10^{-3}$, where $η_{EW}$ is an electroweak correction, and the error accounts for theoretical and experimental sources of uncertainty. △ Less

By fitting the measured partial branching fractions as functions of $q^{2}$, together with constraints on the nonperturbative hadronic contribution from lattice QCD calculations, the magnitude of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element $V_{ub}$, $(3.55 \pm 0.12 \pm 0.13 \pm 0.17) \times 10^{-3}$, is extracted. Combining with the world average $\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+\to{}pK_S^0)$, we have the absolute branching fractions: $\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+\to{}pK_S^0K_S^0) = {(2.35\pm 0.12\pm 0.07 \pm 0.12 )\times 10^{-4}}$ and $\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+\to{}pK_S^0η) = {(4.35\pm 0.10\pm 0.20 \pm 0.22 )\times 10^{-3}}$. The first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively, while the third ones arise from the uncertainty on $\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+\to{}pK_S^0)$. The mode $Λ_c^+\to{}pK_S^0K_S^0$ is observed for the first time and has a statistical significance of $>\!10σ$. The branching fraction of $Λ_c^+\to{}pK_S^0η$ has been measured with a threefold improvement in precision over previous results and is found to be consistent with the world average. △ Less

The upper limits at $90\%$ confidence level on ratios of branching fractions are determined to be $${\cal B}(Ω_{c}^{0} \to Ξ^{-} K ^{+})/{\cal B}(Ω_c^0\to Ω^-π^+) < 0.070$$ and $${\cal B}(Ω_{c}^{0} \to Ω^{-}K^{+})/{\cal B}(Ω_c^0\to Ω^-π^+) < 0.29.$$ △ Less

Abstract: We report a study of $Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ π^0$, $Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ η$, and $Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ η'$ using the data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 980 $\rm fb^{-1}$ collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider. The branching fractions relative to $Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ π^0$ are measured as: $\mathcal{B}_{Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ η}/\mathcal{B}_{Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ π^0}=0.25 \pm 0.03 \pm 0.01$ and $\mathcal{B}_{Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ η'}/\mathcal{B}_{Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ π^0}=0.33 \pm 0.06 \pm 0.02$. Using $\mathcal{B}_{Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ π^0}=(1.25 \pm 0.10)\%$, we obtain $\mathcal{B}_{Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ η}=(3.14 \pm 0.35 \pm 0.11 \pm 0.25)\times10^{-3}$ and $\mathcal{B}_{Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ η'}=(4.16 \pm 0.75 \pm 0.21 \pm 0.33)\times10^{-3}$. Here the uncertainties are statistical, systematic, and from $\mathcal{B}_{Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ π^0}$, respectively. The ratio of the branching fraction of $Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ η'$ with respect to that of $Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ η$ is measured to be $\mathcal{B}_{Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ η'}/\mathcal{B}_{Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ η}=1.34 \pm 0.28 \pm 0.06$. We update the asymmetry parameter of $Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ π^0$, $α_{Σ^+ π^0} = -0.48 \pm 0.02 \pm 0.02$, with a considerably improved precision. The asymmetry parameters of $Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ η$ and $Λ_c^+ \to Σ^+ η'$ are measured to be $α_{Σ^+ η} = -0.99 \pm 0.03 \pm 0.05$ and $α_{Σ^+ η'} = -0.46 \pm 0.06 \pm 0.03$ for the first time. △ Less

Abstract: We present a measurement of the branching fraction and longitudinal polarization of $B^0 \to ρ^+ ρ^-$ decays. SuperKEKB electron-positron collision data corresponding to 189~fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity and containing $198 \times 10^6 B\bar{B}$ pairs collected with the Belle II detector are used. Abstract: An absolute measurement of the $Λ^{+}_c$ lifetime is reported using $Λ_c^+\rightarrow pK^-π^+$ decays in events reconstructed from data collected by the Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB asymmetric-energy electron-positron collider. We reconstruct $B^+\to ρ^+(\to π^+π^0(\to γγ))ρ^0(\to π^+π^-)$ decays in a sample of SuperKEKB electron-positron collisions collected by the Belle II experiment in 2019, 2020, and 2021 at the $Υ$(4S) resonance and corresponding to 190 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. We fit the distributions of the difference between expected and observed $B$ candidate energy, continuum-suppression discriminant, dipion masses, and decay angles of the selected samples, to determine a signal yield of $345 \pm 31$ events. The signal yields are corrected for efficiencies determined from simulation and control data samples to obtain $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to ρ^+ρ^0) = [23.2^{+\ 2.2}_{-\ 2.1} (\rm stat) \pm 2.7 (\rm syst)]\times 10^{-6}$, $f_L = 0.943 ^{+\ 0.035}_{-\ 0.033} (\rm stat)\pm 0.027(\rm syst)$, and $\mathcal{A}_{CP}=-0.069 \pm 0.068(\rm stat) \pm 0.060 (\rm syst)$. The results agree with previous measurements. This is the first measurement of $\mathcal{A}_{CP}$ in $B^+\to ρ^+ρ^0$ decays reported by Belle II. △ Less

Abstract: We report measurements of the branching fraction ($\mathcal{B}$) and direct $CP$-violating asymmetry ($A_{CP}$) of the charmless decay $B^{0} \to K^0 π^0$ at Belle II. A sample of $e^{+} e^{-}$ collisions, corresponding to $189.8 fb^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity, recorded at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance is used for the first decay-time-dependent analysis of these decays within the experiment. We reconstruct $K^{\ast}(892)$ candidates in the $K^+π^-$, $K_{S}^{0}π^+$, and $K^+π^0$ final states. The signal yields with statistical uncertainties are $22\pm 6$, $18 \pm 6$, and $38 \pm 9$ for the decays $B \to K^{\ast}(892)μ^+μ^-$, $B \to K^{\ast}(892)e^+e^-$, and $B \to K^{\ast}(892)\ell^+\ell^-$, respectively. We measure the branching fractions of these decays for the entire range of the dilepton mass, excluding the very low mass region to suppress the $B \to K^{\ast}(892)γ(\to e^+e^-)$ background and regions compatible with decays of charmonium resonances, to be \begin{equation} {\cal B}(B \to K^{\ast}(892)μ^+μ^-) = (1.19 \pm 0.31 ^{+0.08}_{-0.07}) \times 10^{-6}, {\cal B}(B \to K^{\ast}(892)e^+e^-) = (1.42 \pm 0.48 \pm 0.09)\times 10^{-6}, {\cal B}(B \to K^{\ast}(892)\ell^+\ell^-) = (1.25 \pm 0.30 ^{+0.08}_{-0.07}) \times 10^{-6}, \end{equation} where the first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. Measurement of differential cross sections for $Σ^+p$ elastic scattering in the momentum range 0.44-0.80 GeV/c

Abstract: We performed a novel $Σ^+ p$ scattering experiment at the J-PARC Hadron Experimental Facility. Approximately 2400 $Σ^+ p$ elastic scattering events were identified from $4.9 \times 10^7$ tagged $Σ^+$ particles in the $Σ^+$ momentum range 0.44 -- 0.80 GeV/$c$. The differential cross sections of the $Σ^+ p$ elastic scattering were derived with much better precision than in previous experiments. The obtained differential cross sections were approximately 2 mb/sr or less, which were not as large as those predicted by the fss2 and FSS models based on the quark cluster model in the short-range region. By performing phase-shift analyses for the obtained differential cross sections, we experimentally derived the phase shifts of the $^3 S_1$ and $^1 P_1$ channels for the first time. The phase shift of the $^3 S_1$ channel, where a large repulsive core was predicted owing to the Pauli effect between quarks, was evaluated as $20^\circ<|δ_{^3S_1}|<35^\circ$. If the sign of $δ_{^3S_1}$ is assumed to be negative, the interaction in this channel is moderately repulsive, as the Nijmegen extended-sort-core models predicted. △ Less

Differential cross sections and photon beam asymmetries of $η$ photoproduction on the proton at $E_γ$ = 1.3-2.4 GeV

Abstract: We have carried out exclusive measurements for the photoproduction of an $η$ meson from a proton target with an egg-shaped calorimeter made of BGO crystals (BGOegg) and forward charged-particle detectors at the SPring-8 LEPS2 beamline. The differential cross sections and photon beam asymmetries of the $γp \to ηp$ reaction are measured in a center-of-mass energy ($W$) range of $1.82$-$2.32$ GeV and… ▽ More We have carried out exclusive measurements for the photoproduction of an $η$ meson from a proton target with an egg-shaped calorimeter made of BGO crystals (BGOegg) and forward charged-particle detectors at the SPring-8 LEPS2 beamline. The differential cross sections and photon beam asymmetries of the $γp \to ηp$ reaction are measured in a center-of-mass energy ($W$) range of $1.82$-$2.32$ GeV and a polar angle range of $-1.0 < \cos{θ^η_{\mathrm{c.m.}}} < 0.6$. The reaction is identified by selecting a proton and two $γ$'s produced by an $η$-meson decay. The kinematic fit method was employed to select the reaction candidate with the confidence level larger than $1$\%. A bump structure at $W$ = $2.0$-$2.3$ GeV in the differential cross section is confirmed at extremely backward $η$ polar angles, where the existing data are inconsistent with each other. This bump structure is likely associated with high-spin resonances that couple with $s\bar{s}$ quarks. The results of the photon beam asymmetries in a wide $η$ polar angle range are new for the photon beam energies exceeding $2.1$ GeV. These results are not reproduced by the existing partial wave analyses. They provide an additional constraint to nucleon resonance studies at high energies. △ Less

SPring-8 LEPS2 beamline: A facility to produce a multi-GeV photon beam via laser Compton scattering

Abstract: We have constructed a new laser-Compton-scattering facility, called the LEPS2 beamline, at the 8-GeV electron storage ring, SPring-8. This facility provides a linearly polarized photon beam in a tagged energy range of 1.3--2.4 GeV. Thanks to a small divergence of the low-emittance storage-ring electrons, the tagged photon beam has a size (sigma) suppressed to about 4 mm even after it travels about… ▽ More We have constructed a new laser-Compton-scattering facility, called the LEPS2 beamline, at the 8-GeV electron storage ring, SPring-8. Precise measurement of differential cross sections of the Σ-p --> Λ n reaction in momentum range 470-650 MeV/c

Precise angular information about the Σ-p --> Λ n reaction was obtained for the first time by detecting approximately 100 reaction events at each angular step of Δcosθ = 0.1. The obtained differential cross sections show slightly forward-peaking structure in the measured momentum regions.The cross sections integrated for -0.7 < cosθ < 1.0 were obtained as 22.5 +- 0.68 (stat.) +- 0.65 (syst.) mb and 15.8 +-0.83(stat.) +- 0.52 (syst.) mb for 470<p_{Σ}(MeV/c)<550 and 550<p_{Σ}(MeV/c)<650, respectively. These results show a drastic improvement compared to past measurements of the hyperon-proton scattering experiments. Abstract: Using the entire data sample of $980\mathrm{~fb}^{-1}$ collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider, we present measurements of the branching fractions of the Cabibbo-favored decays $Ξ_c^0 \to ΛK_S^0$, $Ξ_c^0 \to Σ^0 K_S^0$, and $Ξ_c^0 \to Σ^+ K^-$. Taking into account the branching fraction of the normalization mode, the absolute branching fractions are determined to be ${\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to ΛK_S^0) = (3.27\pm0.11\pm0.17\pm0.73) \times 10^{-3}$, ${\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to Σ^0 K_S^0) = (0.54\pm 0.09\pm 0.06\pm 0.12) \times 10^{-3}$, and ${\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to Σ^+ K^-) = (1.76\pm 0.10\pm0.14\pm 0.39) \times 10^{-3}$. Abstract: We present a reconstruction in early data of the semileptonic decay $B^+ \to π^0 \ell^+ ν_\ell$, and first results of a reconstruction of the decays $B^+ \to ρ^0 \ell^+ ν_\ell$ and $B^0 \to ρ^- \ell^+ ν_\ell$ in a sample corresponding to 62.8 fb$^{-1}$ of Belle II data using hadronic $B$-tagging via the full-event-interpretation algorithm. We determine the total branching fractions via fits to the distribution of the square of the missing mass, and find $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to π^0 \ell^+ ν_\ell)$ = (8.29 $\pm$ 1.99(stat) $\pm$ 0.46(syst)) $\times 10^{-5}$. We obtain $95\%$ CL upper limits on the branching fractions with $\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to ρ^- \ell^+ ν_\ell) < 3.37 \times 10^{-4}$ and $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to ρ^0 \ell^+ ν_\ell) < 19.7 \times 10^{-5}$. We also obtain an updated branching fraction for the $B^0 \to π^- \ell^+ ν_\ell$ decay, $\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to π^- \ell^+ ν_\ell)$ = (1.47 $\pm$ 0.29(stat) $\pm$ 0.05(syst)) $\times 10^{-4}$, based on the sum of the partial branching fractions in three bins of the squared momentum transfer to the leptonic system. △ Less

We reconstruct $B^+\to ρ^+(\to π^+π^0(\to γγ))ρ^0(\to π^+π^-)$ decays in a sample of SuperKEKB electron-positron collisions collected by the Belle II experiment in 2019 and 2020 at the $Υ$(4S) resonance and corresponding to $62.8$ fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. We fit the distributions of the difference between expected and observed $B$ candidate energy, continuum-suppression variable, dipion masses, and angular distributions of the resulting samples, to determine a signal yield of $104\pm16$ events. The signal yields are corrected for efficiencies determined from simulation and control data samples to obtain $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to ρ^+ρ^0) = [20.6 \pm 3.2(\rm stat) \pm 4.0(\rm syst)]\times 10^{-6}$, and $f_L(B^+ \to ρ^+ρ^0) = 0.936 ^{+0.049}_{-0.041}(\rm stat)\pm 0.021(\rm syst)$. This first Belle II $B^+ \to ρ^+ρ^0$ angular analysis yields results compatible with previous determinations, and indicates Belle II performance superior to early Belle results. △ Less

We use a sample of collisions collected in 2019 and 2020 at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance and corresponding to $62.8$ fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. We use simulation to determine optimized event selections. The $ΔE$ and $M_{\rm bc}$ distributions of the resulting samples are fit to determine signal yields of approximately 690, 840, and 380 decays for the channels $B^+ \to K^+K^-K^+$, $B^+ \to K^+π^-π^+$, and $B^0 \to K^+π^-π^0$, respectively. These yields are corrected for efficiencies determined from simulation and control data samples to obtain $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to K^+K^-K^+) = [35.8 \pm 1.6(\rm stat) \pm 1.4 (\rm syst)]\times 10^{-6}$, $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to K^+π^-π^+) = [67.0 \pm 3.3 (\rm stat)\pm 2.3 (\rm syst)]\times 10^{-6}$, $\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to K^+π^-π^0) = [38.1 \pm 3.5 (\rm stat)\pm 3.9 (\rm syst)]\times 10^{-6}$, $\mathcal{A}_{\rm CP}(B^+ \to K^+K^-K^+) = -0.103 \pm 0.042(\rm stat) \pm 0.020 (\rm syst)$, $\mathcal{A}_{\rm CP}(B^+ \to K^+π^-π^+) = -0.010 \pm 0.050 (\rm stat)\pm 0.021(\rm syst)$, and $\mathcal{A}_{\rm CP}(B^0 \to K^+π^-π^0) = 0.207 \pm 0.088 (\rm stat)\pm 0.011(\rm syst)$. Measurement of the branching fraction for $B^{0} \rightarrow π^{0} π^{0}$ decays reconstructed in 2019-2020 Belle II data

Abstract: We report the first reconstruction of the $B^{0} \to π^{0} π^{0}$ decay mode at Belle II using samples of 2019 and 2020 data that correspond to 62.8 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. We find $14.0^{+6.8}_{-5.6}$ signal decays, corresponding to a significance of 3.4 standard deviations and determine a branching ratio of… ▽ More We report the first reconstruction of the $B^{0} \to π^{0} π^{0}$ decay mode at Belle II using samples of 2019 and 2020 data that correspond to 62.8 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. Abstract: We report updated measurements of branching fractions ($\mathcal{B}$) and CP-violating charge asymmetries ($\mathcal{A_{\rm CP}}$) for charmless $B$ decays at Belle II, which operates on or near the $Υ$(4S) resonance at the SuperKEKB asymmetric energy $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider. The samples are analysed using… ▽ More We report updated measurements of branching fractions ($\mathcal{B}$) and CP-violating charge asymmetries ($\mathcal{A_{\rm CP}}$) for charmless $B$ decays at Belle II, which operates on or near the $Υ$(4S) resonance at the SuperKEKB asymmetric energy $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider. We use samples of 2019 and 2020 data corresponding to 62.8 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. The samples are analysed using two-dimensional fits in $ΔE$ and $M_{\it bc}$ to determine signal yields of approximately 568, 103, and 115 decays for the channels $B^0 \to K^+π^-$, $B^+ \to K_{\rm S}^0π^+$, and $B^0 \to π^+π^-$, respectively. Signal yields are corrected for efficiencies determined from simulation and control data samples to obtain branching fractions and CP-violating asymmetries for flavour-specific channels. The results are compatible with known determinations and contribute important information to an early assessment of Belle II detector performance. △ Less

We use a sample of electron-positron collisions collected in 2019 and 2020 at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance and corresponding to $62.8$ $\text{fb}^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. We reconstruct and select about $50$ $B^0 \to K_S^0 π^0$ candidates, and we measure $\mathcal{A}_{K^0π^0} = -0.40_{-0.44}^{+0.46} (\text{stat}) \pm 0.04 (\text{syst})$ and $\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to K^0 π^0) = [8.5_{-1.6}^{+1.7} (\text{stat}) \pm 1.2 (\text{syst})] \times 10^{-6}$. This is the first measurement of $CP$ violation in $B^0 \to K^0π^0$ decays reported by Belle II. Abstract: A high statistics $Σp$ scattering experiment has been performed at the J-PARC Hadron Experimental Facility. Data for momentum-tagged $Σ^{-}$ running in a liquid hydrogen target were accumulated by detecting the $π^{-}p \to K^{+}Σ^{-}$ reaction with a high intensity $π^{-}$ beam of 20 M/spill. Differential cross sections of the $Σ^{-}p$ elastic scattering were derived with a drastically improved ac… ▽ More A high statistics $Σp$ scattering experiment has been performed at the J-PARC Hadron Experimental Facility. Differential cross sections of the $Σ^{-}p$ elastic scattering were derived with a drastically improved accuracy by identifying the largest statistics of about 4,500 events from 1.72 $\times$ $10^{7}$ $Σ^{-}$. The derived differential cross section shows a clear forward-peaking angular distribution for a $Σ^{-}$ momentum range from 470 to 850 MeV/$c$. The accurate data will impose a strong constraint on the theoretical models of the baryon-baryon interactions. △ Less

The $η'$ is searched for in two decay modes: $η'\toηπ^+π^-$ with $η\toγγ$, and $η'\toργ$. Abstract: Bound-systems of $Ξ^-$--$^{14}_{}{\rm N}$ are studied via $Ξ^-$ capture at rest followed by emission of a twin single-$Λ$ hypernucleus in the emulsion detectors. Two events forming extremely deep $Ξ^-$ bound states were obtained by analysis of a hybrid method in the E07 experiment at J-PARC and reanalysis of the E373 experiment at KEK-PS. Since there are no excited states for daughter particles, the binding energy of the $Ξ^-$ hyperon, $B_{Ξ^-}$, in $^{14}_{}{\rm N}$ nucleus was uniquely determined to be 6.27 $\pm$ 0.27 MeV. Another $Ξ^-$--$^{14}_{}{\rm N}$ system via the decay $^{9}_Λ{\rm Be}$ + $^{5}_Λ{\rm He}$ + n brings a $B_{Ξ^-}$ value, 8.00 $\pm$ 0.77 MeV or 4.96 $\pm$ 0.77 MeV, where the two possible values of $B_{Ξ^-}$ correspond to the ground and the excited states of the daughter $^{9}_Λ{\rm Be}$ nucleus, respectively. Because the $B_{Ξ^-}$ values are larger than those of the previously reported events (KISO and IBUKI), which are both interpreted as the nuclear $1p$ state of the $Ξ^-$--$^{14}_{}{\rm N}$ system, these new events give the first indication of the nuclear $1s$ state of the $Ξ$ hypernucleus, $^{15}_Ξ{\rm C}$. △ Less
