We study the appearance of a boundary condition along an interface between two regions, one with constant diffusivity $1$ and the other with diffusivity $\eps>0$, when $\eps\to0$. In particular, we take Fick's diffusion law in a context of reaction-diffusion equation with bistable nonlinearity and show that the limit of the reaction-diffusion equation satisfies the homogeneous Neumann boundary condition along the interface. This problem is developed as an application of heterogeneous diffusion laws to study the geometry effect of domain.

How can we apply human feedback into generative model? As answer of this question, in this paper, we show the method applied on denoising problem and domain adaptation using human feedback. Deep generative models have demonstrated impressive results in image denoising. However, current image denoising models often produce inappropriate results when applied to domains different from the ones they were trained on. If there are `Good' and `Bad' result for unseen data, how to raise up quality of `Bad' result. Most methods use an approach based on generalization of model. However, these methods require target image for training or adapting unseen domain. In this paper, to adapting domain, we deal with non-target image for unseen domain, and improve specific failed image. To address this, we propose a method for fine-tuning inappropriate results generated in a different domain by utilizing human feedback. First, we train a generator to denoise images using only the noisy MNIST digit '0' images. The denoising generator trained on the source domain leads to unintended results when applied to target domain images. To achieve domain adaptation, we construct a noise-image denoising generated image data set and train a reward model predict human feedback. Finally, we fine-tune the generator on the different domain using the reward model with auxiliary loss function, aiming to transfer denoising capabilities to target domain. Our approach demonstrates the potential to efficiently fine-tune a generator trained on one domain using human feedback from another domain, thereby enhancing denoising abilities in different domains.

The lower energy peak of the spectral energy distribution of blazars has commonly been ascribed to synchrotron radiation from relativistic particles in the jets. Despite the consensus regarding jet emission processes, the particle acceleration mechanism is still debated. Here, we present the first X-ray polarization observations of PG 1553+113, a high-synchrotron-peak blazar observed by the Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer (IXPE). We detect an X-ray polarization degree of $(10\pm2)\%$ along an electric-vector position angle of $ψ_X=86^{\circ}\pm8^{\circ}$. At the same time, the radio and optical polarization degrees are lower by a factor of $\sim$3. During our IXPE pointing, we observed the first orphan optical polarization swing of the IXPE era, as the optical angle of PG 1553+113 underwent a smooth monotonic rotation by about 125$^\circ$, with a rate of $\sim$17 degrees per day. We do not find evidence of a similar rotation in either radio or X-rays, which suggests that the X-ray and optically emitting regions are separate or, at most, partially co-spatial. Our spectro-polarimetric results provide further evidence that the steady-state X-ray emission in blazars originates in a shock-accelerated and energy-stratified electron population.

Expressive speech synthesis is crucial for many human-computer interaction scenarios, such as audiobooks, podcasts, and voice assistants. Previous works focus on predicting the style embeddings at one single scale from the information within the current sentence. Whereas, context information in neighboring sentences and multi-scale nature of style in human speech are neglected, making it challenging to convert multi-sentence text into natural and expressive speech. In this paper, we propose MSStyleTTS, a style modeling method for expressive speech synthesis, to capture and predict styles at different levels from a wider range of context rather than a sentence. Two sub-modules, including multi-scale style extractor and multi-scale style predictor, are trained together with a FastSpeech 2 based acoustic model. The predictor is designed to explore the hierarchical context information by considering structural relationships in context and predict style embeddings at global-level, sentence-level and subword-level. The extractor extracts multi-scale style embedding from the ground-truth speech and explicitly guides the style prediction. Evaluations on both in-domain and out-of-domain audiobook datasets demonstrate that the proposed method significantly outperforms the three baselines. In addition, we conduct the analysis of the context information and multi-scale style representations that have never been discussed before.

Using a fully differential angular description of the final state particles, both the relative magnitude and phase information of the $Σ^{+}$ electromagnetic form factors in the timelike region are extracted. The relative phase between the electric and magnetic form factors is determined to be $\sinΔΦ$ = -0.67~$\pm$~0.29~(stat)~$\pm$~0.18~(syst) at $\sqrt{s}$ = 2.3960 GeV, $ΔΦ$ = 55$^{\circ}$~$\pm$~19$^{\circ}$~(stat) $\pm$~14$^{\circ}$~(syst) at $\sqrt{s}$ = 2.6454 GeV, and 78$^{\circ}$~$\pm$~22$^{\circ}$~(stat) $\pm$~9$^{\circ}$~(syst) at $\sqrt{s}$ = 2.9000 GeV. For the first time, the phase of the hyperon electromagnetic form factors is explored in a wide range of four-momentum transfer. The evolution of the phase along with four-momentum transfer is an important input for understanding its asymptotic behavior and the dynamics of baryons.

The branching fraction of this decay is measured to be ${\mathcal B}(J/ψ\to e^+ e^- π^0 η(1405) \to e^+ e^- π^0 f_0(980) \to e^+ e^- π^0 π^+ π^-)=(2.02\pm0.24(\rm{stat.})\pm0.09(\rm{syst.}))\times 10^{-7}$. The branching-fraction ratio ${\mathcal B}(J/ψ\to e^+ e^- η(1405))$/${\mathcal B}(J/ψ\to γη(1405))$ is determined to be $(1.35\pm0.19(\rm{stat.})\pm0.06(\rm{syst.}))\times10^{-2}$. Furthermore, an $e^+e^-$ invariant-mass dependent transition form factor of $J/ψ\to e^+ e^-η(1405)$ is presented for the first time. The obtained result provides input for different theoretical models, and is valuable for the improved understanding the intrinsic structure of the $η(1405)$ meson.

Based on this, the product of the $D_s^+$ decay constant $f_{D_s^+}$ and the magnitude of the $c\to s$ quark mixing matrix element $|V_{cs}|$ is determined to be $f_{D_s^+}|V_{cs}|=241.8\pm2.5_{\rm stat}\pm2.2_{\rm syst}~\mathrm{MeV}$. The branching fractions of $D_s^+ \to ημ^+ν_μ$ and $D_s^+ \to η^\primeμ^+ν_μ$ are determined to be $(2.235\pm0.051_{\rm stat}\pm0.052_{\rm syst})\%$ and $(0.801\pm0.055_{\rm stat}\pm0.028_{\rm syst})\%$, respectively, with precision improved by factors of 6.0 and 6.6 compared to the previous best measurements. Combined with the results for the decays $D_s^+ \to ηe^+ν_e$ and $D_s^+ \to η^\prime e^+ν_e$, the ratios of the decay widths are examined both inclusively and in several $\ell^+ν_\ell$ four-momentum transfer ranges. No evidence for lepton flavor universality violation is found within the current statistics. The products of the hadronic form factors $f_{+,0}^{η^{(\prime)}}(0)$ and the $c\to s$ Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element $|V_{cs}|$ are determined. The results based on the two-parameter series expansion are $f^η_{+,0}(0)|V_{cs}| = 0.452\pm0.010_{\rm stat}\pm0.007_{\rm syst}$ and $f^{η^{\prime}}_{+,0}(0)|V_{cs}| = 0.504\pm0.037_{\rm stat}\pm0.012_{\rm syst}$, which help to constrain present models on $f_{+,0}^{η^{(\prime)}}(0)$. The forward-backward asymmetries are determined to be $\langle A_{\rm FB}^η\rangle=-0.059\pm0.031_{\rm stat}\pm0.005_{\rm syst}$ and $\langle A_{\rm FB}^{η^\prime}\rangle=-0.064\pm0.079_{\rm stat}\pm0.006_{\rm syst}$ for the first time, which are consistent with the theoretical calculation.

We observe three resonances: $\mathcal R(3760)$, $\mathcal R(3780)$, and $\mathcal R(3810)$ with significances of $8.1σ$, $13.7σ$, and $8.8σ$, respectively. The $\mathcal R(3810)$ state is observed for the first time, while the $\mathcal R(3760)$ and $\mathcal R(3780)$ states are observed for the first time in the nOCH cross sections. Two sets of resonance parameters describe the energy-dependent line shape of the cross sections well. In set I [set II], the $\mathcal R(3810)$ state has mass $(3805.7 \pm 1.1 \pm 2.7)$ [$(3805.7 \pm 1.1 \pm 2.7)$] MeV/$c^2$, total width $(11.6 \pm 2.9 \pm 1.9)$ [$(11.5 \pm 2.8 \pm 1.9)$] MeV, and an electronic width multiplied by the nOCH decay branching fraction of $(10.9\pm 3.8\pm 2.5)$ [$(11.0\pm 3.4\pm 2.5)$] eV. In addition, we measure the branching fractions ${\mathcal B}[{\mathcal R}(3760)$$\rightarrow$nOCH$]=(25.2 \pm 16.1 \pm 30.4)\% [(6.4 \pm 4.8 \pm 7.7)\%]$ and ${\mathcal B}[\mathcal R(3780)$$\rightarrow$nOCH$]=(12.3 \pm 6.6 \pm 8.3)\% [(10.4 \pm 4.8 \pm 7.0)\%]$ for the first time. The $\mathcal R(3760)$ state can be interpreted as an open-charm (OC) molecular state, but containing a simple four-quark state component. The $\mathcal R(3810)$ state can be interpreted as a hadrocharmonium state.

The more new features that are being added to smartphones, the harder it becomes for users to find them. This is because the feature names are usually short, and there are just too many to remember. In such a case, the users may want to ask contextual queries that describe the features they are looking for, but the standard term frequency-based search cannot process them. This paper presents a novel retrieval system for mobile features that accepts intuitive and contextual search queries. We trained a relevance model via contrastive learning from a pre-trained language model to perceive the contextual relevance between query embeddings and indexed mobile features. Also, to make it run efficiently on-device using minimal resources, we applied knowledge distillation to compress the model without degrading much performance. To verify the feasibility of our method, we collected test queries and conducted comparative experiments with the currently deployed search baselines. The results show that our system outperforms the others on contextual sentence queries and even on usual keyword-based queries.

We study the process $e^{+}e^{-}\toΛ_{c}^{+}\barΛ_c^{-}$ at twelve center-of-mass energies from $4.6119$ to $4.9509~\mathrm{GeV}$ using data samples collected by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. The Born cross sections and effective form factors ($|G_{\mathrm{eff}}|$) are determined with unprecedented precision after combining the single and double-tag methods based on the decay process $Λ_{c}^{+}\to pK^{-}π^{+}$. Flat cross sections around $4.63~\mathrm{GeV}$ are obtained and no indication of the resonant structure $Y(4630)$, as reported by Belle, is found. In addition, no oscillatory behavior is discerned in the $|G_{\mathrm{eff}}|$ energy-dependence of $Λ_{c}^{+}$, in contrast to what is seen for the proton and neutron cases. Analyzing the cross section together with the polar-angle distribution of the $Λ_{c}^{+}$ baryon at each energy point, the moduli of electric and magnetic form factors ($|G_{E}|$ and $|G_{M}|$) are extracted and separated. For the first time, the energy-dependence of the form factor ratio $|G_{E}/G_{M}|$ is observed, which can be well described by an oscillatory function.

The absolute branching fraction is measured as ${\mathcal B}(D^+_s\to φμ^+ν_μ) = (2.25\pm 0.09 \pm 0.07) \times10^{-2}$, the most precise measurement to date. Combining with the world average of ${\mathcal B}(D^+_s\to φe^+ν_e)$, the ratio of the branching fractions obtained is$\frac{{\mathcal B}(D^+_s\to φμ^+ν_μ)}{{\mathcal B}(D^+_s\to φe^+ν_e)} = 0.94\pm0.08$, in agreement with lepton universality. By performing a partial wave analysis, the hadronic form factor ratios at $q^{2}=0$ are extracted, finding $r_{V}=\frac{V(0)}{A_{1}(0)}=1.58\pm0.17\pm0.02$ and $r_{2}=\frac{A_{2}(0)}{A_{1}(0)}=0.71\pm0.14\pm0.02$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. No significant $S$-wave contribution from $f_0(980)\to K^+K^-$ is found. The upper limit $\mathcal{B}(D_s^+\to f_0(980)μ^{+}ν_μ) \cdot{\mathcal B}(f_0(980)\to K^+K^-) < 5.45 \times 10^{-4}$ is set at 90\% confidence level.

We reconstruct $162\pm17$ signal events and extract the charge-parity ($CP$) violating parameters from a fit to the distribution of the proper-decay-time difference of the two $B$ mesons. The measured direct and mixing-induced $CP$ asymmetries are $A=0.31\pm0.20\pm0.05$ and $S=0.54\pm0.26^{+0.06}_{-0.08}$, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. The results are compatible with the $CP$ asymmetries observed in $b\to c\overline{c} s$ transitions.

We propose a minimal extension of the Standard Model by incorporating sterile neutrinos and a QCD axion to account for the mass and mixing hierarchies of quarks and leptons and to solve the strong CP problem, and by introducing $G_{\rm SM}\times Γ_N\times U(1)_X$ symmetry. We demonstrate that the K{ä}hler transformation corrects the weight of modular forms in the superpotential and show that the model is consistent with the modular and $U(1)_X$ anomaly-free conditions. This enables a simple construction of a modular-independent superpotential for scalar potential. Using minimal supermultiplets, we demonstrate a level 3 modular form-induced superpotential. Sterile neutrinos explain small active neutrino masses via the seesaw mechanism and provide a well-motivated $U(1)_X$ breaking scale, whereas gauge singlet scalar fields play crucial roles in generating the QCD axion, heavy neutrino mass, and fermion mass hierarchy. The model predicts a range for the $U(1)_X$ breaking scale from $10^{13}$ GeV to $10^{15}$ GeV for $1\,\mbox{TeV}< m_{3/2}<10^6\,\mbox{TeV}$. In the supersymmetric limit, all Yukawa coefficients in the superpotential are given by complex numbers with an absolute value of unity, implying a democratic distribution. Performing numerical analysis, we study how model parameters are constrained by current experimental results. In particular, the model predicts that the value of the quark Dirac CP phase falls between $38^\circ$ to $87^\circ$, which is consistent with experimental data, and the favored value of the neutrino Dirac CP phase is around $250^\circ$. Furthermore, the model can be tested by ongoing and future experiments on axion searches, neutrino oscillations, and $0νββ$-decay.

We report the first search for a non-standard-model resonance decaying into $τ$ pairs in $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow μ^{+}μ^{-} τ^+τ^-$ events in the 3.6-10 GeV/$c^{2}$ mass range. We use a 62.8 fb$^{-1}$ sample of $e^+e^-$ collisions collected at a center-of-mass energy of 10.58 GeV by the Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB collider. The analysis probes three different models predicting a spin-1 particle coupling only to the heavier lepton families, a Higgs-like spin-0 particle that couples preferentially to charged leptons (leptophilic scalar), and an axion-like particle, respectively. We observe no evidence for a signal and set exclusion limits at 90% confidence level on the product of cross section and branching fraction into $τ$ pairs, ranging from 0.7 fb to 24 fb, and on the couplings of these processes. We obtain world-leading constraints on the couplings for the leptophilic scalar model for masses above 6.5 GeV/$c^2$ and for the axion-like particle model over the entire mass range.

Spin-based devices have attracted attention as an alternative to CMOS-based technology. However, one of the challenges in spintronics devices is reducing the spin-switching energy in ferromagnetic (FM) materials. To address this, we considered ferroelectric (FE) materials, which may affect the magnetic properties of FM materials. We explored various oxide perovskites ABO$_3$ as FE materials, onto which a Fe monolayer was placed as the FM material. We evaluated the magnetic anisotropy energy (MAE) of the Fe monolayer while varying the polarization of ABO$_3$. Our analysis showed that the MAE depends on the magnetic dipole moment induced in the FE material at the interface between the FE and FM materials due to structural modifications. Machine learning techniques were also employed to identify universal behaviors of the MAE in the presence of FE layers, confirming the importance of magnetic moments near the interface in explaining the dependence of the MAE on FE materials.

The branching fractions obtained are $\mathcal{B}(D_s^+ \to ηe^{+} ν_e)$ = $(2.255\pm0.039_{\rm stat}\pm 0.051_{\rm syst})\%$ and $\mathcal{B}(D_s^+ \to η^{\prime} e^{+} ν_e)$ = $(0.810\pm0.038_{\rm stat}\pm 0.024_{\rm syst})\%$. Combining these results with the $\mathcal{B}(D^+\toηe^+ ν_e)$ and $\mathcal{B}(D^+\toη^\prime e^+ ν_e)$ obtained from previous BESIII measurements, the $η-η^\prime$ mixing angle in the quark flavor basis is determined to be $φ_{\rm P} = (40.0\pm2.0_{\rm stat}\pm0.6_{\rm syst})^\circ$. Moreover, from the fits to the partial decay rates of $D_s^+ \to ηe^+ ν_e$ and $D_s^+ \to η^\prime e^+ ν_e$, the products of the hadronic transition form factors $f_+^{η^{(\prime)}}(0)$ and the modulus of the $c\to s$ Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element $|V_{cs}|$ are determined by using different hadronic transition form factor parametrizations. Based on the two-parameter series expansion, the products $f^η_+(0)|V_{cs}| = 0.4519\pm0.0071_{\rm stat}\pm0.0065_{\rm syst}$ and $f^{η^\prime}_+(0)|V_{cs}| = 0.525\pm0.024_{\rm stat}\pm0.009_{\rm syst}$ are extracted. All results determined in this work supersede those measured in the previous BESIII analyses based on the 3.19 fb$^{-1}$ subsample of data at 4.178 GeV.

Software testing is an important part of the development cycle, yet it requires specialized expertise and substantial developer effort to adequately test software. Recent discoveries of the capabilities of large language models (LLMs) suggest that they can be used as automated testing assistants, and thus provide helpful information and even drive the testing process. To highlight the potential of this technology, we present a taxonomy of LLM-based testing agents based on their level of autonomy, and describe how a greater level of autonomy can benefit developers in practice. An example use of LLMs as a testing assistant is provided to demonstrate how a conversational framework for testing can help developers. This also highlights how the often criticized hallucination of LLMs can be beneficial for testing. We identify other tangible benefits that LLM-driven testing agents can bestow, and also discuss potential limitations.

We present the results of a radio multi-frequency ($\rm 3-340~GHz$) study of the blazar 3C~454.3. After subtracting the quiescent spectrum corresponding to optically thin emission, we found two individual synchrotron self-absorption (SSA) features in the wide-band spectrum. The one SSA had a relatively low turnover frequency ($ν_{\rm m}$) in the range of $\rm 3-37~GHz$ (lower $ν_{\rm m}$ SSA spectrum, LSS), and the other one had a relatively high $ν_{\rm m}$ of $\rm 55-124~GHz$ (higher $ν_{\rm m}$ SSA spectrum, HSS). Using the SSA parameters, we estimated magnetic field strengths at the surface where optical depth $τ=1$. The estimated magnetic field strengths were $\rm >7~mG$ and $\rm >0.2~mG$ for the LSS and HSS, respectively. The LSS emitting region was magnetically dominated before the June 2014 $γ$-ray flare. The quasi-stationary component (C), $\sim 0.6~{\rm mas}$ apart from the 43 GHz radio core, became brighter than the core with decreasing observing frequency, and we found that component C was related to the LSS. A decrease in jet width was found near component C. As a moving component, K14 approached component C, and the flux density of the component was enhanced while the angular size decreased. The high intrinsic brightness temperature in the fluid frame was obtained as $T_{\rm B, int} \approx (7.0\pm1.0) \times 10^{11}~{\rm K}$ from the jet component after the 2015 August $γ$-ray flare, suggesting that component C is a high-energy emitting region. The observed local minimum of jet width and re-brightening behavior suggest a possible recollimation shock in component C.

Assuming this correlation is solely the result of photon-photon absorption of VHE photons with the EBL, which finds the deviations between the predictions and observations, especially at redshifts $0.2 < z < 1$. We then discuss the implications of photon-ALP oscillations for the VHE $γ$-ray spectra of blazars. A strong evidence shows that: 1) the EBL attenuation results that the VHE $γ$-ray photon index increases non-linearly at the ranges of redshift, $0.03 < z < 0.2$; 2) the photon-ALP oscillation results in a attractive characteristic in the VHE $γ$-ray photon index at the ranges of redshift, $0.2 < z < 1$. We suggest that both the EBL absorption and photon-ALP oscillation can influence on the propagation of VHE $γ$-rays from distant blazars.

Tests of lepton flavor universality using $Λ_c^+\rightarrow Λ\ell^+ν_{\ell}$ ($\ell=e, μ$) decays are reported for the first time, based on measurements of the differential decay rates and the forward-backward asymmetries in separate four-momentum transfer regions. The results are compatible with Standard Model predictions. Furthermore, we improve the determination of the form-factor parameters in $Λ_c^+\rightarrow Λ\ell^+ν_{\ell}$ decays, which provide stringent tests and calibration for lattice quantum chromodynamics (LQCD) calculations.

Identifying ordered phases and their underlying symmetries is the first and most important step toward understanding the mechanism of high-temperature superconductivity; critical behaviors of ordered phases are expected to be correlated with superconductivity. Efforts to find such ordered phases have been focused on symmetry breaking in the pseudogap region while the Fermi liquid-like metal region beyond the so-called critical doping $p_{c}$ has been regarded as a trivial disordered state. Here, we used rotational anisotropy second harmonic generation and uncovered a broken mirror symmetry in the Fermi liquid-like phase in (Bi,Pb)$_{2}$Sr$_{2}$CaCu$_{2}$O$_{8+δ}$ with $p = 0.205 > p_{c}$. By tracking the temperature evolution of the symmetry-breaking response, we verify an order parameter-like behavior with the onset temperature $T_{up}$ at which the strange metal to Fermi liquid-like-metal crossover takes place. Complementary angle-resolved photoemission study showed that the quasiparticle coherence between $\mathrm{CuO_{2}}$ bilayers is enhanced in proportion to the symmetry-breaking response as a function of temperature, indicating that the change in metallicity and symmetry breaking are linked. These observations contradict the conventional quantum disordered scenario for over-critical-doped cuprates and provide new insight into the nature of the quantum critical point in cuprates.

Calcium fluoride (CaF$_2$) crystalline whispering gallery mode resonators (WGMRs) exhibit ultrahigh intrinsic quality factors and a low power anomalous dispersion in the communication and mid-infrared bands, making them attractive platforms for microresonator-based comb generation. However, their unique negative thermo-optic effects pose challenges when achieving thermal equilibrium. To our knowledge, our experiments serve as the first demonstration of soliton microcombs in Q > 109 CaF$_2$ WGMRs. We observed soliton mode-locking and bidirectional switching of soliton numbers caused by the negative thermo-optic effects. Additionally, various soliton formation dynamics are shown, including breathing and vibrational solitons, which can be attributed to thermo-photomechanical oscillations. Thus, our results enrich the soliton generation platform and provide a reference for generating solitons from WGMRs that comprise other materials with negative thermo-optic effects. In the future, the ultrahigh quality factor of CaF$_2$ crystal cavities may enable the generation of sub-milliwatt-level broad-spectrum soliton combs.

We report the first $> 99\%$ confidence detection of X-ray polarization in BL Lacertae. During a recent X-ray/$γ$-ray outburst, a 287 ksec observation (2022 November 27-30) was taken using the Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer ({\it IXPE}), together with contemporaneous multiwavelength observations from the Neil Gehrels {\it Swift} observatory and {\it XMM-Newton} in soft X-rays (0.3--10~keV), {\it NuSTAR} in hard X-rays (3--70~keV), and optical polarization from the Calar Alto, and Perkins Telescope observatories. Our contemporaneous X-ray data suggest that the {\it IXPE} energy band is at the crossover between the low- and high-frequency blazar emission humps. The source displays significant variability during the observation, and we measure polarization in three separate time bins. Contemporaneous X-ray spectra allow us to determine the relative contribution from each emission hump. We find $>99\%$ confidence X-ray polarization $Π_{2-4{\rm keV}} = 21.7^{+5.6}_{-7.9}\%$ and electric vector polarization angle $ψ_{2-4{\rm keV}} = -28.7 \pm 8.7^{\circ}$ in the time bin with highest estimated synchrotron flux contribution. We discuss possible implications of our observations, including previous {\it IXPE} BL Lacertae pointings, tentatively concluding that synchrotron self-Compton emission dominates over hadronic emission processes during the observed epochs.

Aligning large language models (LLMs) to human values has become increasingly important as it enables sophisticated steering of LLMs. However, it requires significant human demonstrations and feedback or distillation from proprietary LLMs such as ChatGPT. In this work, we propose a novel alignment learning framework with synthetic feedback not dependent on extensive human annotations and proprietary LLMs. First, we perform reward modeling (RM) with synthetic feedback by contrasting responses from vanilla LLMs with various sizes and prompts. Then, we use the RM to simulate high-quality demonstrations to train a supervised policy and further optimize the model with reinforcement learning. Our resulting model, Aligned Language Model with Synthetic Training dataset (ALMoST), outperforms recent open-sourced models, which are trained on the outputs of InstructGPT or human-annotated demonstrations, in alignment benchmarks. In human evaluation, our model is preferred to Alpaca and Dolly-v2, 55.0% and 58.5% of the time, respectively. Further analyses demonstrate the efficacy and importance of synthetic feedback in our framework. The code is available at https://github.com/naver-ai/almost

We propose a set of goodness-of-fit tests for the semiparametric accelerated failure time (AFT) model, including an omnibus test, a link function test, and a functional form test. This set of tests is derived from a multi-parameter cumulative sum process shown to follow asymptotically a zero-mean Gaussian process. Its evaluation is based on the asymptotically equivalent perturbed version, which enables both graphical and numerical evaluations of the assumed AFT model. Empirical p-values are obtained using the Kolmogorov-type supremum test, which provides a reliable approach for estimating the significance of both proposed un-standardized and standardized test statistics. The proposed procedure is illustrated using the induced smoothed rank-based estimator but is directly applicable to other popular estimators such as non-smooth rank-based estimator or least-squares estimator. Our proposed methods are rigorously evaluated using extensive simulation experiments that demonstrate their effectiveness in maintaining a Type I error rate and detecting departures from the assumed AFT model in practical sample sizes and censoring rates. Furthermore, the proposed approach is applied to the analysis of the Primary Biliary Cirrhosis data, a widely studied dataset in survival analysis, providing further evidence of the practical usefulness of the proposed methods in real-world scenarios. To make the proposed methods more accessible to researchers, we have implemented them in the R package afttest, which is publicly available on the Comprehensive R Archieve Network.

We investigate the stability of MnPb$_{2}$Bi$_{2}$Te$_{6}$ (MPBT), which is predicted to be a magnetic topological insulator (TI), using density functional theory calculations. Our analysis includes various measures such as enthalpies of formation, Helmholtz free energies, defect formation energies, and dynamical stability. Our thermodynamic analysis shows that the phonon contribution to the energy gain from finite temperature is estimated to be less than 10~meV/atom, which may not be sufficient to stabilize MPBT at high temperatures, even with the most favorable reactions starting from binaries. While MPBT is generally robust against the formation of various defects, we find that anti-site defect formation of $\text{Mn}_{\text{Pb}}$ is the most likely to occur, with corresponding energy less than 60~meV. This can be attributed to the significant energy cost from compressive strain at the PbTe layer. Our findings suggest that MPBT is on the brink of stability in terms of thermodynamics and defect formation, underscoring the importance of conducting systematic analyses of the stability of proposed TIs, including MPBT, for their practical utilization. This study offers valuable insights into the design and synthesis of desirable magnetic TI materials with robust stabilities.

We study the effect of stacking faults on the topological properties of the magnetic topological insulator MnBi$_{2}$Te$_{4}$ (MBT) using density functional theory calculations and the Hubbard $U$ being tuned with many-body diffusion Monte Carlo techniques. We show that a modest deviation from the equilibrium interlayer distance leads to a topological phase transition from a non-trivial to a trivial topology, suggesting that tuning the interlayer coupling by adjusting the interlayer distance alone can lead to different topological phases. Interestingly, due to the locally increased interlayer distance of the top layer, a metastable stacking fault in MBT leads to a nearly gapless state at the topmost layer due to charge redistribution as the topmost layer recedes. We further find evidence of spin-momentum locking in the surface state along with a weak preservation of the band inversion in the near gapless state, which is indicative of the non-trivial topological surface states for the metastable stacking fault. Our findings provide a possible explanation for reconciling the long-standing puzzle of gapped and gapless states on MBT surfaces.

Differently, we are interested in generating edge weights that are realistic in a macroscopic scope, merely from the topology, which is unexplored and challenging. To this end, we explore and exploit the patterns involving edge weights and topology in real-world graphs. Specifically, we divide each graph into layers where each layer consists of the edges with weights at least a threshold. We observe consistent and surprising patterns appearing in multiple layers: the similarity between being adjacent and having high weights, and the nearly-linear growth of the fraction of edges having high weights with the number of common neighbors. We also observe a power-law pattern that connects the layers. Based on the observations, we propose PEAR, an algorithm assigning realistic edge weights to a given topology. The algorithm relies on only two parameters, preserves all the observed patterns, and produces more realistic weights than the baseline methods with more parameters.

While no signal is observed, the upper limits on the branching fractions of these two decays are set to $\mathcal B(Ξ^{0} \rightarrow K^{-} e^{+})<3.6\times10^{-6}$ and $\mathcal B(Ξ^{0} \rightarrow K^{+} e^{-})<1.9\times10^{-6}$ at the 90\% confidence level, respectively. These results offer a direct probe of baryon number violating interactions involving a strange quark.

We find no evidence for $τ^- \to \ell^- φ$ decays and obtain upper limits on the branching fractions at 90% confidence level of 23 $\times 10^{-8}$ and 9.7$\times 10^{-8}$ for $τ^- \rightarrow e^-φ$ and $τ^- \rightarrow μ^-φ$, respectively

The recent discovery of a charge density (CDW) state in ScV$_6$Sn$_6$ at $T_{\textrm{CDW}}$ = 91 K offers new opportunities to understand the origins of electronic instabilities in topological kagome systems. By comparing to the isostructural non-CDW compound LuV$_6$Sn$_6$, we unravel interesting electrical transport properties in ScV$_6$Sn$_6$, above and below the charge ordering temperature. We observed that by applying a magnetic field along the $a$ axis, the temperature behavior of the longitudinal resistivity in ScV$_6$Sn$_6$ changes from metal-like to insulator-like above the CDW transition. We show that in the charge ordered state ScV$_6$Sn$_6$ follows the Fermi liquid behavior while above that, it transforms into a non-Fermi liquid phase in which the resistivity varies sublinearly over a broad temperature range. The sublinear resistivity, which scales by $T^{3/5}$ is a common feature among other vanadium-containing kagome compounds exhibiting CDW states such as KV$_3$Sb$_5$, RbV$_3$Sb$_5$, and CsV$_3$Sb$_5$. By contrast, the non-Fermi liquid behavior does not occur in LuV$_6$Sn$_6$. We explain the $T^{3/5}$ universal scaling behavior from the Coulomb scattering between Dirac electrons and Van Hove singularities; common features in the electronic structure of kagome materials. Finally, we show anomalous Hall-like behavior in ScV$_6$Sn$_6$ below $T_{\textrm{CDW}}$, which is absent in the Lu compound. Comparing the transport properties of ScV$_6$Sn$_6$ and LuV$_6$Sn$_6$ is valuable to highlight the impacts of the unusual CDW in the Sc compound.

We present a measurement of the branching fractions of four $B^{0,-}\to D^{(*)+,0} K^- K^{0}_S$ decay modes. The measurement is based on data from SuperKEKB electron-positron collisions at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance collected with the Belle II detector and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of ${362~\text{fb}^{-1}}$. The event yields are extracted from fits to the distributions of the difference between expected and observed $B$ meson energy to separate signal and background, and are efficiency-corrected as a function of the invariant mass of the $K^-K_S^0$ system. We find the branching fractions to be: \[ \text{B}(B^-\to D^0K^-K_S^0)=(1.89\pm 0.16\pm 0.10)\times 10^{-4}, \] \[ \text{B}(\overline B{}^0\to D^+K^-K_S^0)=(0.85\pm 0.11\pm 0.05)\times 10^{-4},\] \[ \text{B}(B^-\to D^{*0}K^-K_S^0)=(1.57\pm 0.27\pm 0.12)\times 10^{-4}, \] \[ \text{B}(\overline B{}^0\to D^{*+}K^-K_S^0)=(0.96\pm 0.18\pm 0.06)\times 10^{-4},\] where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. These results include the first observation of $\overline B{}^0\to D^+K^-K_S^0$, $B^-\to D^{*0}K^-K_S^0$, and $\overline B{}^0\to D^{*+}K^-K_S^0$ decays and a significant improvement in the precision of $\text{B}(B^-\to D^0K^-K_S^0)$ compared to previous measurements.

Despite the efficient market hypothesis, many studies suggest the existence of inefficiencies in the stock market leading to the development of techniques to gain above-market returns. Systematic trading has undergone significant advances in recent decades with deep learning schemes emerging as a powerful tool for analyzing and predicting market behavior. In this paper, a method is proposed that is inspired by how professional technical analysts trade. This scheme looks at stock prices of the previous 600 days and predicts whether the stock price will rise or fall 10% or 20% within the next D days. The proposed method uses the Resnet's (a deep learning model) skip connections and logits to increase the probability of the prediction. The model was trained and tested using historical data from both the Korea and US stock markets. The backtest is done using the data from 2020 to 2022. Using the proposed method for the Korea market it gave return of 75.36% having Sharpe ratio of 1.57, which far exceeds the market return by 36% and 0.61, respectively. On the US market it gives total return of 27.17% with Sharpe ratio of 0.61, which outperforms other benchmarks such as NASDAQ, S&P500, DOW JONES index by 17.69% and 0.27, respectively.

Second-harmonic generation (SHG) microscopy provides label-free imaging of biological tissues with unique contrast mechanisms, but its resolution is limited by the diffraction limit. Here, we present the first experimental demonstration of super-resolution quantitative phase imaging of the SHG field based on synthetic aperture Fourier holographic microscopy. We discuss the mathematical model of synthetic-aperture imaging of SHG fields, as well as the computational adaptive optics technique for correcting sample-induced aberration. We demonstrate proof-of-concept experiments where SHG targets are embedded within a thick scattering medium to validate the performance of the proposed imaging technique. It is shown to be able to overcome the conventional Abbe diffraction limit even in the complex aberrations and strong multiple scattering. We also demonstrate SHG-based super-resolution deep-tissue phase imaging of ex-vivo zebrafish muscle tissue.
