Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are being used for wireless communications in smart environments. However, the need for mobility, scalability of data transmission over wide areas, and the required coverage area make UAV beamforming essential for better coverage and user experience. To this end, we propose a flexible beamforming approach to improve tethered UAV coverage quality and maximize the number of users experiencing the minimum required rate in any target environment. Our solution demonstrates a significant achievement in flexible beamforming in smart environments, including urban, suburban, dense, and high-rise urban. Furthermore, the beamforming gain is mainly concentrated in the target to improve the coverage area based on various scenarios. Simulation results show that the proposed approach can achieve a significantly received flexible power beam that focuses the transmitted signal towards the receiver and improves received power by reducing signal power spread. In the case of no beamforming, signal power spreads out as distance increases, reducing the signal strength. Furthermore, our proposed solution is suitable for improving UAV coverage and reliability in smart and harsh environments.

Beyond fifth generation (B5G), communication has attracted much attention from academia, industry, and mobile network operators due to network densification, ultra-low latency communication, and enhanced energy and spectrum efficiency. However, a post-disaster emergency management system (EMS), which increasingly relies heavily on wireless communication infrastructure, is falling far behind in innovation and funding. Because the B5G concept represents a telecommunications industry revolution, EMS provisioning is intended to be dispersed, autonomous, and robust to network weaknesses caused by human and natural calamities. When the network is congested, partially functioning, or entirely isolated, we provide multi-device-to-device (D2D) communication to extend the communication coverage area with improved energy efficiency. Furthermore, we examine D2D multi-hop energy efficiency performance in the proposed network. The results demonstrate that the improved D2D multi-hop energy efficiency can improve the EMS effectively and efficiently in extending the coverage area and enhancing energy efficiency. Moreover, the proposed approach has been proven to increase energy efficiency, which acts as a suitable network design to recover from natural disasters and potentially save many lives

Connectivity in rural areas is one of the main challenges of communication networks. To overcome this challenge, a variety of solutions for different situations are required. Optimizing the current networking paradigms is therefore mandatory. The high costs of infrastructure and the low revenue of cell sites in rural areas compared with urban areas are especially unattractive for telecommunication operators. Therefore, space, air, and ground networks should all be optimized for achieving connectivity in rural areas. We highlight the latest works on rural connectivity, discuss the solutions for terrestrial networks, and study the potential benefits of nonterrestrial networks. Furthermore, we present an overview of artificial intelligence (AI) techniques for improving space, air, and ground networks, hence improving connectivity in rural areas. Since a tethered connected to UAV is one potential energy solution to provide a stable power supply that connects to the ground would achieve impressive performances in smart environments and disaster recovery. The proposed solution is intended to provide stable energy and increase the coverage area of TUAV for smart environments and disaster recovery. This paper proposed that the tethered connected to UAV will provide the continuous supply and exchange the data with ground terminals. Besides the adjustable tether length, elevation angels act to increase the hovering region, leading to the scalability of coverage in many applications. Moreover, the power consumption and transmission the distance while achieving a trade-off between the hovering and coverage probabilities. The simulation results demonstrate efficient performance in terms of line-of-sight probability, path loss, and coverage probability for scalability coverage smart environments and disaster recovery scenarios. Furthermore, maximum coverage probability is achieved versus increased tethered length because of the gain and fly over a region of maximum tethered.

An Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) is a promising technology for providing wireless coverage to ground user devices. For all the infrastructure communication networks destroyed in disasters, UAVs battery life is challenging during service delivery in a post-disaster scenario. Therefore, selecting cluster heads among user devices plays a vital role in detecting UAV signals and processing data for improving UAV energy efficacy and reliable Connectivity. This paper focuses on the performance evaluation of the clustering approach performance in detecting wireless coverage services with improving energy efficiency. The evaluation performance is a realistic simulation for the ground to air channel Line of Sight (LoS). The results show that the cluster head can effectively link the UAVs and cluster members at minimal energy expenditure. The UAVs altitudes and path loss exponent affected user devices for detecting wireless coverage. Moreover, the bit error rate in the cluster heads is considered for reliable Connectivity in post disaster. Clustering stabilizes the clusters linking the uncovered nodes to the UAV, and its effectiveness in doing so resulted in its ubiquity in emergency communication systems.

Currently, drones represent a promising technology for combating Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) due to the transport of goods, medical supplies to a given target location in the quarantine areas experiencing an epidemic outbreak. Drone missions will increasingly rely on drone collaboration, which requires the drones to reduce communication complexity and be controlled in a decentralized fashion. Blockchain technology becomes a must in industrial applications because it provides decentralized data, accessibility, immutability, and irreversibility. Therefore, Blockchain makes data public for all drones and enables drones to log information concerning world states, time, location, resources, delivery data, and drone relation to all neighbors drones. This paper introduces decentralized independent multi-drones to accomplish the task collaboratively. Improving blockchain with a consensus algorithm can improve network partitioning and scalability in order to combat COVID-19. The multi-drones task is to combat COVID-19 via monitoring and detecting, social distancing, sanitization, data analysis, delivering goods and medical supplies, and announcement while avoiding collisions with one another. We discuss End to End (E2E) delivery application of combination blockchain and multi-drone in combating COVID-19 and beyond future pandemics. Furthermore, the challenges and opportunities of our proposed framework are highlighted.

The development and adopting of advanced communication technologies provide mobile users more convenience to connect any wireless network anytime and anywhere. Therefore, a large number of base stations (BS) are demanded keeping users connectivity, enhancing network capacity, and guarantee a sustained users Quality of Experiences (QoS). However, increasing the number of BS leads to an increase in the ecological ad radiation hazards. In order to green communication, many factors should be taken into consideration, i.e., saving energy, guarantee QoS, and reducing pollution hazards. Therefore, we propose tethered balloon technology that can replace a large number of BS and reduce ecological and radiation hazards due to its high altitude and feasible green and healthy broadband communication. The main contribution of this paper is to deploy tethered balloon technology at different altitude and measure the power density. Furthermore, we evaluate the measurement of power density from different height of tethered balloon comparison with traditional wireless communication technologies. The simulation results showed that tethered balloon technology can deliver green communication effectively and efficiently without any hazardous impacts.

This paper proposes an intelligent technique for maximizing the network connectivity and provisioning desired quality of service (QoS) of integration of internet of things (IoT) and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). Prediction of the signal strength and fading channel conditions enable adaptive data transmission which turn enhances the QoS for the end users/ devices with reducing the power consumption for data transmissions. UAV is data gathering robot from the difficult or impossible area for humans to reach. Hence, Atmospheric dynamics and environment influence the signal strength during traveling in space among UAV, IoT devices, and humankind. Therefore, Signal moving from the smart UAV is sensitive to the effects of attenuation, reflection, diffraction, scattering, and shadowing. We analysis the ability ANN to predictively estimate the signal strength and channel propagation from the drone and physical medium parameters, using ANN. Moreover, the results show that the distortion of the signal can be reduced and enhanced significantly.
