In this paper we have present an improved Cycle GAN based model for under water image enhancement. We have utilized the cycle consistent learning technique of the state-of-the-art Cycle GAN model with modification in the loss function in terms of depth-oriented attention which enhance the contrast of the overall image, keeping global content, color, local texture, and style information intact. We trained the Cycle GAN model with the modified loss functions on the benchmarked Enhancing Underwater Visual Perception (EUPV) dataset a large dataset including paired and unpaired sets of underwater images (poor and good quality) taken with seven distinct cameras in a range of visibility situation during research on ocean exploration and human-robot cooperation. In addition, we perform qualitative and quantitative evaluation which supports the given technique applied and provided a better contrast enhancement model of underwater imagery. More significantly, the upgraded images provide better results from conventional models and further for under water navigation, pose estimation, saliency prediction, object detection and tracking. The results validate the appropriateness of the model for autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV) in visual navigation.

Deep learning techniques hold immense promise for advancing medical image analysis, particularly in tasks like image segmentation, where precise annotation of regions or volumes of interest within medical images is crucial but manually laborious and prone to interobserver and intraobserver biases. As such, deep learning approaches could provide automated solutions for such applications. However, the potential of these techniques is often undermined by challenges in reproducibility and generalizability, which are key barriers to their clinical adoption. This paper introduces the RIDGE checklist, a comprehensive framework designed to assess the Reproducibility, Integrity, Dependability, Generalizability, and Efficiency of deep learning-based medical image segmentation models. The RIDGE checklist is not just a tool for evaluation but also a guideline for researchers striving to improve the quality and transparency of their work. By adhering to the principles outlined in the RIDGE checklist, researchers can ensure that their developed segmentation models are robust, scientifically valid, and applicable in a clinical setting.

A resilient and robust positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) system is a necessity for the navigation of autonomous vehicles (AVs). Global Navigation Satelite System (GNSS) provides satellite-based PNT services. However, a spoofer can temper an authentic GNSS signal and could transmit wrong position information to an AV. Therefore, a GNSS must have the capability of real-time detection and feedback-correction of spoofing attacks related to PNT receivers, whereby it will help the end-user (autonomous vehicle in this case) to navigate safely if it falls into any compromises. This paper aims to develop a deep reinforcement learning (RL)-based turn-by-turn spoofing attack detection using low-cost in-vehicle sensor data. We have utilized Honda Driving Dataset to create attack and non-attack datasets, develop a deep RL model, and evaluate the performance of the RL-based attack detection model. We find that the accuracy of the RL model ranges from 99.99% to 100%, and the recall value is 100%. However, the precision ranges from 93.44% to 100%, and the f1 score ranges from 96.61% to 100%. Overall, the analyses reveal that the RL model is effective in turn-by-turn spoofing attack detection.

Accurate and robust whole heart substructure segmentation is crucial in developing clinical applications, such as computer-aided diagnosis and computer-aided surgery. However, segmentation of different heart substructures is challenging because of inadequate edge or boundary information, the complexity of the background and texture, and the diversity in different substructures' sizes and shapes. This article proposes a framework for multi-class whole heart segmentation employing non-rigid registration-based probabilistic atlas incorporating the Bayesian framework. We also propose a non-rigid registration pipeline utilizing a multi-resolution strategy for obtaining the highest attainable mutual information between the moving and fixed images. We further incorporate non-rigid registration into the expectation-maximization algorithm and implement different deep convolutional neural network-based encoder-decoder networks for ablation studies. All the extensive experiments are conducted utilizing the publicly available dataset for the whole heart segmentation containing 20 MRI and 20 CT cardiac images. The proposed approach exhibits an encouraging achievement, yielding a mean volume overlapping error of 14.5 % for CT scans exceeding the state-of-the-art results by a margin of 1.3 % in terms of the same metric. As the proposed approach provides better-results to delineate the different substructures of the heart, it can be a medical diagnostic aiding tool for helping experts with quicker and more accurate results.
