A beautiful applique quilt seen at the Arizona State Fair, this detail view and the previous close-up show just a bit of the glory created in fabric. I was most impressed by the buttonhole stitch used to fix down the patches of fabric. Well done! This entry is by Gerlinde Hruzek, in the class for CC/S Seniors, Age 65 and Over, Class 183 Pictoral. She won a First Place prize for this quilt.

8.8K views · 1.3K reactions | This is one of my favorite ways to create a turned edge for appliqué. ❤️ (I think it’s called a faced technique.) I’m using a lightweight nonwoven fusible interfacing. My favorite one is Quilter’s Select Cutaway. It’s very sheer but strong and doesn’t tear easily. You can also use Pellon 907F which is similar. These hearts are about 2.5” and my favorite part is turning them right side out using a wide straw and a ballpoint bodkin. Once the hearts are made, you can fuse them onto your project and then appliqué by hand or machine. See my previous post for my free Vintage Heart quilt block pattern or see the link in my profile. 😍 #facedappliqué #turnededgeapplique #appliquequilting #applique #heartapplique #quiltersselectcutaway #quiltersselect #handappliqu Couture, Tela, Patchwork, How To Make A Quilted Heart, Applique Techniques Tutorials, Patchwork Hearts Pattern, Applique Heart Quilt, Heart Applique Quilt, Heart Quilts Applique
