We are excited to share that Civmec has animated the Walyalup Dreaming story, a significant part of the Whadjuk people's cultural heritage. This story is particularly meaningful to us, as it unfolds on the very land and sea where our Henderson facility is located. We hope this video will provide you with a better understanding of our community's rich cultural heritage and emphasise the importance of preserving these stories for future generations, just as the First Nations peoples have done so for thousands of years.

Yesterday, as part of our NAIDOC Week celebrations, we hosted a special event attended by local elders, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees, suppliers, and friends, along with colleagues, clients, and state and local government representatives, in our Assembly Hall foyer. The event provided an opportunity for us to celebrate and recognise the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and to learn more about the significance of the land on which Civmec operates. An amazing Welcome to Country from Whadjuk Nyoongar Elder Steven Jacobs, along with our own Graeme Harwood, Senior HSE Advisor, as the MC, set the scene for the centrepiece of the event - a video animation of the Walyalup Dreaming story. The powerful story, featuring Yondock, the Waugle, Woorriji, and Dwert, remains a vital part of the cultural tapestry of the Whadjuk people. The Dreamtime story also holds a special significance for us here at Civmec, as it describes how Derbal Nara (Cockburn Sound), the location of our Henderson facility, and the chain of islands from Meendip (Garden Island) to Wadjemup (Rottnest Island), were formed. We’d like to thank all those in attendance and remain grateful to play a role to ‘keep the fire burning’ for the local Whadjuk Noongar culture.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has donated. Your generosity will make a significant impact by providing crisis accommodation, food, healthcare, counselling, education, employment support, and permanent housing for thousands across the country. We are thrilled to announce that we not only exceeded our initial $120,000 goal but also became the top fundraising team in WA, raising over $150,000. Once again, thank you for your generous support.
