Updates

  • From Rail to Renewables: Revolutionising Commercial Adaptation in Water & Energy At MCE Management • Commercial • Engineering we pride ourselves on our diverse and extensive experience across various sectors of the construction environment. Being able to adapt and react to opportunities across different sectors is what we do best, leveraging from our wealth of experience delivering major complex construction projects to ensure our clients achieve the best possible outcomes. The role of a quantity surveyor / commercial manager is one with the most transferable skillsets in the construction industry. Within our team we have commercial experience that spans over large complex projects from civils and tunnelling works to Sydney Metro line wide and stations, from military bases to high rise commercial developments. There are numerous key attributes that overlap between the traditional construction industry and the dynamic world of energy and renewables. Procurement & Contract Negotiation: Whether it's negotiating with contractors, suppliers, or clients, the quantity surveyors’ adept negotiation skills are invaluable in securing favourable terms and driving successful outcomes in any sector during the procurement process and delivery stage of the project. Financial Acumen: Expertise in managing budgets, forecasting costs, and optimising cashflow. All backed up with a detailed understanding of how projects are delivered on programme and in line with the sequencing and methodologies established from the outset. Stakeholder Engagement: Building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders is crucial, where collaboration across diverse entities is essential for project success. Open and honest communication skills and stakeholder management experience are key assets in fostering partnerships and driving alignment which establishes lasting relationships of trust and understanding. Adaptability and Innovation: The energy and renewables sector is characterised by rapid technological advancements and regulatory changes. Quantity surveyors have the ability to adapt to evolving landscapes and innovate solutions to emerging challenges in this dynamic field. Risk & Opportunity Management: Identifying and mitigating risks is second nature to a quantity surveyor. In the rapidly evolving landscape of renewable energy, their ability to anticipate and address potential risks or opportunities through early identification, ensures that opportunities are explored and maximised, whilst managing and mitigating risks. The transferable skillset of quantity surveyors extends beyond the boundaries of the construction sector. Leveraging these skills can enhance operational efficiency, drive organisational success and unlock opportunities for professional growth and advancement. • Celebrating Excellence: MCE Management • Commercial • Engineering MVPs Shine at Our Business Update Meeting We were thrilled to announce our MCE MVPs (Most Valuable Players) at our recent Business Update meeting with our whole Team. Our MVP Award highlights the dedication, expertise, and professional excellence of our team members. Recognising just one or two among many who consistently embody MCE’s core values—Excellence, Integrity, Trust, Courage, Innovation, Collaboration, Respect, and Value—is always challenging. This award celebrates those who have earned outstanding feedback from clients and colleagues alike, truly going above and beyond.   Recognising the significance of their contribution to the client team delivering the Sydney Metro stations – Central, Martin Place, Waterloo and Crows Nest – we decided one single award would not suffice. We therefore awarded MVPs to 3 of our Team, Cameron Ritchie, Stanley Weng and Morsalin Sakib.  We also gave “honourable mentions” to two other key team members, Annabella Dao and Philip Barkman, for their valued contribution to station delivery (Crows Nest and Barangaroo). Congratulations to our valued MVPs!! https://lnkd.in/gwCTeyzf #teamculture #professionalteam #engineeringexcellence #megaprojectexcellence #MCEbuildsbetter #infrastructureprojects #transportnsw #rewardrecognition

Reconciliation Week is an annual opportunity for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to reconciliation. Reconciliation Week is held from May 27 to June 3, marking the anniversaries of the 1967 referendum and the Mabo decision. It is a time to reflect on our progress and the work still needed to achieve reconciliation. In recent years, the infrastructure sector has made notable strides in engaging First Nations businesses and communities in project planning and delivery. Though encouraging, sustained commitment from governments and companies like ours is crucial to swiftly and fairly bridging the gap. The 2024 theme, "Now More Than Ever," underscores our renewed dedication to learning and advancing reconciliation. MCE will persist in enhancing our collaboration with First Nations communities and businesses, ensuring their involvement from the project's outset. Our aim is to foster a safe and inclusive environment for First Nations enterprises and individuals. Our commitment includes: Early Engagement: Involving First Nations businesses and communities from the start of every project to ensure their perspectives are integrated into planning and execution.
