Meet: Amanda Ashford - From jumping between NYC, Toronto, and SF at any given point, to slowing down at her out-of-city oasis in the woods, Amanda perfectly blends an effortless cosmopolitan look with a natural, on-the-go aesthetic in both style and lifestyle.  We had the pleasure of interviewing Amanda, and here's what she shared with us! Amanda! Tell us a bit about yourself. What do you do, what do you love? How much time do you have ;) I work at OMERS Ventures, an early-stage technology investment fund. We have offices in Toronto, New York and Palo Alto, so I visit each regularly and the rest of the time you’ll find me working from my house in the woods, which my partner and I bought during COVID as part of the mass exodus out of the city. Other than that, I lean hard into travel, art and trying to make friends with the various animals around our property (without much success). No kids, two cats and a bit of a shopping problem. How would you define your personal style right now? I always look for good quality materials, good drape, and things I can turn up or down depending on where I’m going. That’s what I love about PAPER LABEL. I’ll wear the chambray suit with sandals and a baseball cap to the Sunday farmers market, and again the next day with a cute tank and flats on a flight to NYC. OUR FABRICS - We look forward to continuing to introduce more sustainable fibres and fabrics to our offering in the upcoming seasons. TENCEL™ Lyocell TENCEL™ Lyocell fibres are extracted from sustainably grown wood using a unique closed-loop system that recovers and reuses the solvents used, minimizing the environmental impact of production. The fibres are certified as compostable and biodegradable, thus fully reverting back to nature. Organic Cotton Organic production systems replenish and maintain soil fertility, reduce the use of toxic and persistent pesticides and fertilizers, and build biologically diverse agriculture. Our organic cotton is GOTS certified, meaning it has passed strict ecological and social criteria backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain. BCI Cotton The Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) is the world's leading sustainability initiative for cotton. BCI cotton has all the same benefits as regular cotton, such as comfort and breathability, while promoting and encouraging sustainable practices. BCI cotton farmers focus on minimizing the use of harmful pesticides and lowering their water consumption. Lenzing™ Ecovero™ As technology progresses, new materials like Lenzing™ Ecovero™ are created. Lenzing™ Ecovero™ viscose fibres are derived from sustainable wood and pulp from certified and controlled sources. These viscose fabrics are free of harmful substances, and the manufacturing cycle has been optimized to drastically reduce the environmental impact compared to traditional viscose. Recycled Polyester Recycled materials, like our recycled polyester, divert trash from landfills and help give our waste a new life. Recycled polyester not only contributes to reducing petroleum extraction but also consumes less energy than the regular method and allows for a much longer life cycle of the garments. Lenzing™ Modal Lenzing™ Modal fibres are mainly manufactured from beech wood - a natural and renewable raw material - sourced from sustainably grown forests in Austria and neighboring countries. Brilliant in color and luster, Lenzing™ Modal fibres are known for being exquisitely soft and pleasant on the skin. ABOUT OUR PACKAGING - After production, we aim to minimize the impact of our business. We continue our efforts to move away from virgin materials wherever possible and source the most environmentally friendly packaging that will protect our product. By using compostable, eco-friendly packaging from Better Packaging, we reduce both plastic waste and our impact on climate change. Our packaging is made from 100% recycled ocean-bound plastic pollution (POLLAST!C).
