Lesaffre announces the appointment of Ulrich Irgens as General Manager of Gnosis by Lesaffre, in this position Ulrich joined the Group’s Executive Committee. Over the course of his career, Ulrich has decades of proven experience on an international platform in managing the growth of health and #nutrition businesses developed in different companies. He also has an excellent understanding of European, American, and Asian cultures, countries representing important growth markets for Gnosis. “I'm very excited to be joining Gnosis by Lesaffre to support the development of Lesaffre's Human Nutrition and Health business alongside all the Group's teams. Having spent most of my career in the health and nutrition sector, I'm proud to be able to contribute to the development of this strategic business unit for Lesaffre, through a comprehensive strategy, focusing first on our innovation capabilities and strengthening our impact on people’s daily health." It was with great delight that the Lesaffre campus recently hosted another edition of the #CSR and Operational Excellence Awards. This unique event brought together employees from all around the world who presented over thirty projects dedicated to effectively addressing the challenges of Corporate Social Responsibility and Global Problem Solving for the Group. The CSR and Operational Excellence Awards embody our mission that unites the Group's 11,000 employees: working together to better nourish and protect the planet. By 2050, we'll need to feed 10 billion people, which means a 56% increase in food production - a possible expansion of cultivated land equivalent to twice the size of India. Yet we know that such an expansion of agricultural land would be detrimental to natural ecosystems and harmful to the climate. What if, when it comes to #CCU, i.e. the capture and use of CO2 present in the industrial effluents, #microorganisms and #fermentation were the right trio to meet tomorrow's food challenges while limiting our impact on natural ressources. Indeed, recycling CO2 into value-added products represents a real opportunity to tackle environmental problems and achieve a circular economy. That's why Lesaffre in partnership with SoScience has launched a call for innovation to discover new avenues of innovation in the field of #carbon capture and use (CCU) specifically adapted to the food industry. Today, Lesaffre announces the signing of a transaction with dsm-firmenich to acquire its yeast extract business. Lesaffre and dsm-firmenich have reached agreement for a multi-part collaboration in #yeast derivatives serving the #savory ingredients space. Acquiring dsm-firmenich’s yeast extract processing technologies will enable Lesaffre to better serve customers in savory and other fermentation-based applications. This #acquisition of talent and know-how and a technology partnership with dsm-firmenich will strengthen Lesaffre's trajectory in the savory ingredients market and a transformative strategic step for Biospringer by Lesaffre which will offer to its customers a wider range of products and solutions to improve taste, texture, and other desired properties in their various food applications.   Lesaffre and dsm-firmenich hope to close the transaction by the end of the year. Closing remains subject to the customary regulatory approvals and works council consultations at dsm-firmenich.
