Shaping wellbeing for the world

About us

For over 130 years Fyffes has brought a choice of tropical produce to countless millions around the world. We achieve the highest quality by nurturing relationships with our growers, supporting our employees, and diligently serving each link in the chain: production, procurement, shipping, ripening, distribution, and marketing. This approach has earned Fyffes leadership across multiple markets; today we are the largest importer of Fairtrade certified bananas in the world. We are also one of the largest banana and pineapple importers in Europe and the biggest melon importer in North America. We became part of the Sumitomo Corporation in 2017, advancing our industry leadership in many exciting ways.

Fyffes colleagues in Latin America went above and beyond for #WorldEnvironmentDay, undertaking impressive efforts to restore and protect their local ecosystems. Collaborating with students, they planted a total of 510 native trees in Costa Rica (San Rafael and Guácimo) to celebrate both World Environment Day and National Tree Day. Meanwhile, in Guatemala, our colleagues displayed exceptional dedication by planting over 1,600 trees, including the critically endangered Aripin species. The commitment extended beyond planting trees. In Honduras, our colleagues joined forces with local organisations for a massive cleanup effort, removing over 2 tons of garbage from the banks of the Choluteca River! These initiatives highlight Fyffes dedication to environmental health and commitment to fostering strong partnerships with our communities throughout Latin America. #Sustainability #WorldEnvironmentDay

Today, we stand together to raise awareness about #WorldDayAgainstChildLabour. This global issue affects 160 million children, denying them education, opportunities, and a fair chance at a better future. Poverty, inequality, and economic insecurity perpetuate this injustice, but we can help drive change. As a key player in the agricultural industry, we take our commitment to prevent child labour seriously. Today, we refreshed our Child Labour Policy, Monitoring and Remediation Protocol, which outlines our expectations of our employees and supply chain, prioritising ethical sourcing and safe working conditions, ensuring no child is exploited. We also collaborate with local communities, NGOs, and industry partners to create a united front against child labour. Let’s continue working together to ensure all children enjoy a safe and prosperous future. #WorldDayAgainstChildLabour #EndChildLabour #Fyffes #Sustainability #EthicalSourcing #CommunitySupport

Today, we join the global community in celebrating the International Day of Biodiversity, with a special focus on the vital role biodiversity plays in agriculture. Biodiversity is the variety of life on Earth, and in agriculture, it’s the cornerstone of sustainable and resilient farming systems. Here's why biodiversity matters so much in agriculture: 1. Crop Diversity: Growing a variety of crops helps ensure food security, improves soil health, and reduces the risk of pest and disease outbreaks. Diverse crops can also provide more nutrients and flavors in our diets. 2. Soil Health: Healthy soils are teeming with diverse microorganisms that decompose organic matter, fix nitrogen, and suppress soil-borne diseases. This diversity is essential for sustainable crop production. 3. Pollination and Pest Control: Biodiversity supports natural pollinators and predators, reducing the need for chemical inputs and enhancing the productivity and health of our crops. 4. Climate Resilience: Diverse agricultural systems are more resilient to climate change and extreme weather events. They can adapt better to changing conditions, ensuring long-term sustainability. 5. Cultural and Economic Value: Biodiversity in agriculture supports the livelihoods of farmers, preserves traditional farming practices, and contributes to the cultural heritage of communities worldwide. This International Day of Biodiversity, let’s remember that protecting and enhancing biodiversity is not just about preserving nature – it’s about ensuring a sustainable and resilient future for agriculture and food security. Join us in celebrating the rich diversity of life that supports our food systems. Together, we can cultivate a healthier, more sustainable planet. #Biodiversity #InternationalBiodiversityDay #SustainableAgriculture #EcoFriendly #ProtectOurPlanet
