Charles Van den Eycken is known for painting still-life interior scenes with cats and dogs. He studied under the animal artist J. Stevens and from 1881 became a regular exhibitor at the Salon in Brussels and other Salons in the region. He even painted a portrait of Queen Marie Henriette of Belgium.
