Rib flare doesn't go away automatically for all mamas postpartum.

So, these exercises help you engage the muscles that can help you bring your rib cage back down and in 😝

For the first exercise, only lean back as far as you can while keeping your lower abs flat. On the one lying down, flatten your lower back to the ground with your abs to also work on anterior tilt if present. Do 10 reps x 3 sets of each exercise!

Without this freedom of movement, you might find that you have constant tension in your neck or mid back, you strain your diastasis every time you reach, or pressure goes down onto your pelvic floor. Bonus tips for unsticking: 1. Crocodile Breathing: Focus on using the inhale to expand your chest wall, armpits, and back lower ribs. Use the exhale and maybe a slight pulling back of your shoulder blades to help pull your front ribs and shoulder blades back. Both actions help you lower to the ground, unsticking your chest wall from your lower ribs. 2. Inverted Serratus Press and Release: As you lower, it’s importa Instagram, Pelvic Floor, Freedom Of Movement, Rib Cage, Need This

The reason for the connection between these two symptoms is due to our body’s need to breathe over 22,000 times a day, and if we lack the ability to expand in our lower ribs we will find another way to pull air into our lungs to survive. 🫁 This often ends up being in the upper ribcage resulting in a lot of muscle activity in our upper traps, and neck musculature. In this exercise we are focusing on expanding through our lower ribcage while also retraining how to allow the ribs to return from an expanded position to a neutral position. Standing you can drop your leg behind for an elevated release / experience. Remember to breathe through the breath sequence. If you find other tight spots - move to that position and breath through until the release. Fascia likes slow movements accompanied by the breath! Show us your videos! Sculpt Daily (Deanna & Joy) Fitness for Moms on Instagram: "Who here has noticed that their rib cage got bigger after having a baby!? 🙋🏽‍♀️ That favorite dress doesn’t fit anymore and you find yourself buying bra bands a size bigger than you once did. It is easy to chalk this up to yet another way your body will never be the same and sadly move on with your life. This is a common complaint of many women and is something you should pay attention to because it can cause more problems than just aesthetic concerns. ➡️ So why should you care about this? Rib flare takes your body out of proper alignment. It can create excess tension in your back, stress on your abdominal wall and prevent your diaphragm (main breathing muscle) from having optimal connection with your pelvic floor.
