Former President of Ireland Mary Robinson will be the first speaker at the inaugural “Ireland at Fordham Humanitarian Lecture Series" which begins at Fordham University, New York, next week.
Mary Robinson was the first woman to be apponted as a UN Chief Mediator. Ms. Robinson was well qualified. She graduated from Trinity College and studied at the King's Inns. She was admitted to the Irish Bar in 1967 and received an LLM from Harvard in 1968. She was the 7th president of Ireland. Following her time as president, Robinson was made United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights from 1997 to 2002.
