Train posters

As early as 1925 the London & North Eastern Railway were cannily marketing both the locomotive Flying Scotsman (4472) and the named train service - it certainly probably was a contender for the confident assumption that it was the most famous train in the world. The cover artwork is very potent - worked up by Harry Gawthorn, a well-known commercial artist who also did many posters for the company.

Poster produced for British Rail to promote the company�s new sleeper service between Bristol and Scotland. The poster shows a train winding its way around a full moon, in a night sky full of stars...

Design features three drawings of the new Overground trains. Publicity poster adverstising the new trains to be commisioned on the new London Overground line between Dalston and west Croydon, previously known as the East London Line.
