Ludwig Wittgenstein, in full Ludwig Josef Johann Wittgenstein, (born April 26, 1889, Vienna, Austria-Hungary [now in Austria]—died April 29, 1951, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England), Austrian-born British philosopher, regarded by many as the greatest philosopher of the 20th century. We’ve all seen them, on the boardwalks of Venice Beach or of the Jersey Shore: poop-joke t-shirts that state the gist of various world religions or philosophies by reference to the aforementioned bodily function.

Immanuel Kant was a German philosopher who acknowledged scientific reasoning, mathematical calculation, and rationalist ideology. Kant was and still is considered as one of the central figures of modern philosophy. Kant's acceptance and even support of scientific theories and new views helped to establish him as a wise philosopher of his time. Without Kant and other individuals who were willing to accept unusual new scientific theories, the rationalist movement may have never taken place.
