This is how Ulrika Andersson at Colzyx, answered:   "My absolute favourite energy boost in the summer is to practice open water swimming a sunny, calm morning to enjoy the beauty below the surface as well as to get a bit of exercise. A breakfast in the garden after the swim is the cherry on top. This summer I plan to visit a couple of art exhibitions and open gardens for creative inspiration.   In the autumn I will continue to build the quality and regulatory framework for Colzyx and our product Woundcom, together with my colleagues, so we keep moving forward towards a CE mark."   #brilliantminds #lifescience #sciencepark

This is how Anna Mannfalk, Member of the Executive Board at Region Skåne and Chair of the Health and Medical Services Committee in Skåne, answered:   "I spend my summer holidays in Gryts archipelago and at home , which is Falsterbonäset, with family and friends. Enjoying sunny days on the Baltic Sea and on horseback. Rainy days are an excellent opportunity to loose oneself in a good book. We asked some of our dedicated staff at Medicon Village how they spend their summer holidays and about their professional focus for the second half of 2024. This is how Sarah Lidé answered:   "Every two years, my family and I venture 10 000 km east back to tropical Singapore to spend quality time with my parents. Aside from squeezing in two years' worth of catching up with family and friends, I treasure being able to enjoy the vast array of local food (I have a soft spot for a good bowl of steaming noodle soup with a side of green chilli!) as part of my proud Singaporean food heritage.   Going into the autumn, I look forward to continue to drive our strategic collaborations and initiatives that will strengthen the conditions for enabling the life science sector in our region to thrive – for example, providing targeted support to fast growing and high potential life science companies via the 10xHealth scaleup program which we are developing together with SmiLe Venture Hub, and bringing more facts and figures to better understanding the life science sector in Skåne and Sweden through our collaboration with SwedenBIO and others. This is how André Carlsson at Watersprint answered:   "I like to spend my summer holidays with my family on, or close to, the water. The archipelago in Bohuslän is amazing and we try to take our boat there once every summer. My son is a big fan of fishing so some hours are also spent on the lakes in southern Sweden, and then I cook what we catch.    Watersprint is launching a few new UVC LED products for water disinfection later this year, which have the potential to be significant enablers for growth. There's nothing like salty baths and a seaweed scrub!

We asked our friends at Supporting Partner Potter Clarkson to come up with some summer holiday food for thought on IP for founders and executives who are too busy to reflect on these topics during hectic workdays. Our intention is to publish one thought each week in July. Here's the first one:   "WHY SHOULD I CARE ABOUT IP? With so much else to worry about, it is perfectly natural for founders and executives (and those aspiring to be a founder or executive) to ask why they should find time to care about IP.  Time and money may be short, but you absolutely should care!   Aside from the fact IP protects the innovation at the heart of your business from those who may want to use it for their own gain, IP will make you more attractive to potential investors and you will need funding.    However, investors won't provide you with the necessary funds unless they are confident that, after the long and expensive research and development (R&D) journey, you will be able to sell your product, recover costs, and generate profits.   Building this confidence requires demonstrating to funders that you can prevent others from copying your product.
