📣🌱 This is our window to secure a #NaturePositive economy for all by 2030. With less than 100 days until #COP16, Business for Nature coalition has published a business statement outlining five high-level policy recommendations for governments to accelerate the implementation of the #Biodiversity Plan to drive corporate #Nature action. CDP was delighted to support Business for Nature to develop these recommendations, with robust environmental disclosure at their heart. The statement, endorsed by 130 businesses and financial institutions with combined revenues of $1.1 trillion, calls on governments to adopt policies to: 🌎 Make sure business and financial actors protect nature and restore degraded ecosystems 🌎 Ensure sustainable resource use and management to reduce negative environmental impacts 🌎 Value and embed nature in decision-making and disclosure 🌎 Align all financial flows to transition to a nature-positive, net zero and equitable economy 🌎 Adopt or strengthen ambitious global agreements to address key nature loss challenges It’s time for governments to create an enabling regulatory framework and put nature at the heart of decision making. 🔗 Find out more:

This year we've made some changes to our corporate questionnaire. We want to empower organizations to better assess the environmental risks, impacts and opportunities in line with incoming regulation. Organizations reporting on more than one environmental theme this year will now use a single questionnaire rather than three individual questionnaires. CDP's corporate questionnaire is made up of 450 questions, and it’s dynamic, so it presents only relevant questions, without duplication, alongside our incorporated guidance. Our questionnaire is designed to create the data needed to act. We ask the right questions to ensure that capital markets, procurement teams and the data ecosystem have decision-useful environmental data. 🌍83% of cities are already facing significant climate hazards such as extreme heat and flooding. Latest CDP data shows that: ➡️Over half of cities report flooding (58%) and extreme heat (54%) as hazards, making them the worst climate hazards facing urban areas. ➡️Around 2/3 of cities expect hazards to become more intense and frequent. The disclosure of environmental data by cities, states and regions is critical to ensuring global action and accountability on environmental action. We need more, and better, disclosure as data is essential to build an accurate picture of progress and develop robust plans for adaption and mitigation. Radhika Mehrotra, CDP’s Associate Director of Capital Markets in North America, contributed an article in Preqin on benchmarking insights on climate transition and nature for private companies from CDP data. Asset owners and fund managers stand to benefit from such standardized and decision-useful data – not only for compliance purposes, but towards implementing the net zero transition and driving sustainable finance.
Are private companies ready for the climate transition?🌍 Despite a significant rise in ESG funds, only 10% of fund managers can report portfolio-level emissions. With net-zero ambitions driving public markets, private companies are increasingly influenced by data from corporate supply chains and financial institutions. Radhika Mehrotra, Associate Director of Capital Markets for CDP North America, delves into the critical role of ESG integration and disclosures in private markets.
