🤝AI: assistant or assasin? 💀 This past Tuesday, Sifted’s Startup Life event looked to answer the question of AI vs. Employees via a lively panel discussion. Hosted by Anisah Osman Britton MBE, startup life reporter at Sifted, Eleanor Lightbody, CEO at Luminance and Rishabh Mehrotra, Head of AI at Sourcegraph weighed in. CEW’s Poppy Cracknell was in attendance, furiously taking notes. Here’s her learnings from the event: 🏃🏻 AI is about assisting us in our work, not replacing people or jobs. By using AI, we can get tasks done quicker and easier, meaning there is more time to complete other tasks. 📚 We should invest more in AI education and training for employees, creating more efficient and skilled teams. 🌱 Roles evolve and change, so by ignoring AI, is only detrimental to your progress. It’s not going anywhere anytime soon, so to keep up with competition, you need to embrace it. 🙋🏼♂️Check what AI is available in your field, chances are someone has made an AI agent to help with some part of your job - whether its coding, marketing or legal contracts! 📈AI can help upskill juniors quickly, as they can learn quickly and can get feedback on their work in real-time. 🆓 Convincing sceptics can be hard, but by offering free trials of AI solutions you can create FOMO around your product, by showing them what they have been missing out on! 🚀Congratulations to Techspace on launching its largest building yet! 🏢🥳 Based in Clerkenwell, the former Gordon & Co Gin distillery has undergone a £35 million redevelopment and will offer space for 900 desks and over 1,000 new members. 🧑🤝🧑 Techspace has partnered with Capreon for its sixth London location, providing a flexible workspace complete with a rooftop café and bar, a workout space, a stunning double-height event space, and a podcasting studio for members to enjoy. Greece becomes the first country to build a national wildfire system using OroraTech’s technology 🥇 ⚠️ Statista reports that In 2023, wildfires in Greece had burned an area of 174,800 hectares.  Its rough, mountainous terrain, and geography spanning over 6,000 islands, makes fighting wildfires in Greece very difficult. 🛰️ To tackle the problem, the Greek government announced its investment into four thermal satellites and a wildfire platform with OroraTech. The $20M investment provides an urgent solution to combating the problem of the increasing frequency and intensity of wildfires. 🔥The system for wildfire management is able to detect wildfires before they occur and predict their trajectory. 🔥 Together with a consortium of Greek subcontractors, OroraTech will deliver a system for wildfire management, including ground systems and processing services, as well as a constellation of thermal imaging satellites dedicated to monitoring the entire country of Greece for wildfires. 🇬🇷 OroraTech CEO and CTO Martin Langer said“The world-class know-how of our Greek partners for thermal sensing is instrumental in providing the best solution for this country.
