Award-winning giving platform that helps businesses donate volunteer time, money and surplus to local good causes.
About us
Neighbourly is an award-winning giving platform that helps businesses make a positive impact in their communities by donating volunteer time, money and surplus products, all in one place. We were founded in 2014 with the aim of helping businesses deliver meaningful and sustainable community investment, into thousands of locations across the UK and Ireland. We believe that by putting local impact at the heart of responsible business we can create a system that works for everyone. We’ve grown into an award-winning, market leading CSR platform that serves some of the world's biggest companies and supports thousands of local good causes working to improve lives and habitats in our neighbourhoods. In 2015 we became one of the UK’s very first B Corporations, meaning we’re a for-profit company certified by the non-profit B Lab to meet rigorous standards of social responsibility and environmental performance, accountability and transparency. Being a B Corp underpins our core values and belief that business can be a force for good. Together with our fellow B Corps around the world we are redefining how sustainable communities are built and what success in business means. In 2020 we were accredited by the Good Business Charter, launched the Neighbourly Foundation to provide continued financial support to local community causes. The Neighbourly Foundation is now a Marks & Spencer Sparks Charity. 👏🌱 As part of the Johnsons Workwear volunteering campaign, employees Faizah, Alison and Aminah spent the day helping at their local community garden in Preston. "It was a brilliant, rewarding day and the lovely people at the centre were extremely grateful for our help 😊" With an aim to help local good causes through hands-on support, employees at Johnson Service Group PLC have contributed over 3,000 volunteering hours to the communities they operate in around the UK, through the Neighbourly platform 💙

Today, 7th July, millions of people across the UK will come together to celebrate and give thanks to the individuals who consistently go above and beyond 🤩 Thank You Day is a nationwide opportunity to thank those around you who always go the extra mile and, at Neighbourly, we want to champion each and every volunteer, charity staff member and colleague that contributes their time and energy to supporting local communities. We wouldn’t be able to do what we do without you, so thank you 💙

🤖 🚨 As new technologies like generative AI emerge, 64% of small charities in our network say they're unsure of how to unlock its potential. This highlights a widening knowledge gap between larger national charities and local charities that make up the backbone of our communities. Through the DigitalBridge campaign, in collaboration with Microsoft, Neighbourly facilitates remote employee volunteering sessions between businesses and small charities in their community who need help developing digital skills. Find out more in the comment section about how businesses like Virgin Media O2 and Hays are chanelling their employees' skills to boost their communities.

Each year in the UK, over 9 million tonnes of edible food goes to waste – enough to feed 30 million people. At Neighbourly, we believe that unlocking the full power of redistribution is imperative to creating positive change. Outdated government policy causes barriers and we are calling on the incoming government to implement two key policy changes which could facilitate redistribution on a greater scale: - Remove VAT on product donations to charities - Aligning rules for fresh food donations Read our latest article on Sustainability Beat to find out more https://lnkd.in/eGUHVz7Q

An eye opening stat from our latest community survey - across the 5,000 food banks and food-aid groups on our platform, an estimated 225,000 people are going unsupported each week due to lack of resources. Our survey acts as a temperature check on the 35,000+ charities and good causes in our network, and whilst hearing about these challenges can feel demoralising, we also hear many stories of resilience and hope from the amazing individuals working tirelessly in small charities around the country. This is why we’re proud to champion events like Small Charity Week, that also works to amplify, support and connect small charities across the UK. Read our latest blog, linked in the comment section, to find out more about the results of our survey.
