Parenting shouldn't end when relationships do.

About us

NACCC was the first charity in the UK Accrediting Child Contact Centres. The NACCC National Standards ensure best practice, we also provide training and best practice guidance to our members. Our work ensures that Child Contact Centres are safe and effective places for children to have contact with people they love but no longer regularly spend time with. NACCC believe that visiting a loved one in a contact centre is a short term stepping stone to safe and long term contact in a more natural environment.

NACCC would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Christian Dixon, CEO at ACC Dudley The Arts of Change on being awarded the British Empire Medal for services to mental health in Dudley and the Black Country 👏 🏆 . Christian runs the ACC Child Contact Centre in Dudley which is accredited to provide supported family time to children in the Dudley area. Christian spent hundreds of hours, during the first wave of Covid-19 to develop a groundbreaking and free toolkit to help parents who would usually only see their children at a supervised contact centre to see and communicate with them remotely, whilst showing parents practical and creative tools to keep their children engaged. This initiative became so successful it was funded by The National Lottery and rolled out nationwide. We were delighted to award him an Innovative practice award for this work during the pandemic. Christian said: “I am in shock on receiving the news but overjoyed at the same time.” The 57-year-old has worked with the national mental health charity Mind and the National Probation Service, leading a number of training programmes. He set up the charity the Arts of Change Trust and the CiC the Arts of Change Ltd, which has since provided more than one million therapeutic sessions to disadvantaged people experiencing mental health issues. He also managed the successful ‘The Dementia Poetry programme’ which supported dementia gateways across the Black Country and helped sufferers to explore their own experiences, through the creation of poetry as a way to express themselves. Christian took his love of working as a professional actor and passion for helping others and combined them together to train as a dramatherapist. He was made a fellow of The Royal Society of Arts and helped raise thousands of pounds for other local charities across the Black Country. He recently qualified as a clinical supervisor, meaning he provides ethical guidance and clinical support for other professional therapists and counsellors around the world. Congratulations again! https://lnkd.in/eQT_isBa #familytime #recognition #mentalhealthsupport

📣 Today we are launching a series of factsheets for fathers, to help Britain’s dads navigate their journeys into and through fatherhood. 💡 More than 600,000 men per year become fathers in the UK, and most of them do so with little targeted information and support to guide them. Health, education and other services focus almost exclusively on mothers. That’s changing, but slowly. The good news is, there’s now lots of information online for dads. But it’s not always the best quality, and it can take a while to find reliable information that covers the aspects of fatherhood that really matter, and understands fathers’ experience, all in one place. 🙌 As the UK’s leading source of evidence-based information about fathers and fatherhood, we’ve created a series of factsheets to fill the gap. Together, they form a one-stop-shop of essential knowledge for dads. They cover: 🔶 Paternity and parental leave 🔶 Parental responsibility and birth registration 🔶 Sharing the earning and caregiving 🔶 Flexible working 🔶 Looking after your health 🔶 Supporting your child’s education 🔶 Co-parenting across households 🔶 Men and baby loss 🔶 Finding help and support 🧠 In them, we’ve drawn from official sources like the Gov and NHS websites; our own and others’ systematic-type reviews of academic and other evidence; specific research papers; and reports and articles from key experts in various fields – and we provide links to relevant organisations, services and resources. 👉 Check them out now, and please share with any fathers who might find them useful: https://lnkd.in/euVcfjCE #workingdad #uk #parentalleave #fatherhood #paternityleave #6weeksfordads #fatherinclusivepractice #fatherchildrelationship #fatherhoodresearch #coparenting #earlyyearseducation #mentalhealth #babyloss #miscarriage #caregiving #flexibleworking

House of Lords debate on how the government is supporting separating parents. On Monday (22nd April) the House of Lords is due to consider the following question for short debate: “Lord Farmer (Conservative) to ask His Majesty’s Government what steps they are taking to support parents considering separation and to promote early resolution of private family law arrangements.” Some separating couples apply to the family court to resolve disputes, such as where their child should live. Research has shown the negative impact that parental separation involving conflict can have on a child’s mental health and life chances. In January 2024, the government announced a reform programme of the family justice system to support families to resolve private family law disputes more quickly and protect children from lengthy court cases. NACCC - Parenting Shouldn't End When Relationships Do (NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF CHILD CONTACT CENTRES) We are the only charity in the UK dedicated to family time, by providing safe spaces where children can meet the parents they don’t mainly live with. Child contact centres provide safe, friendly and neutral places where children of separated families can spend time with one or both parents. To use a contact centre you make an application called a ” referral”. Many centres accept referrals direct, but if you prefer your mediator, solicitor, social worker, Cafcass officer can make the referral for you. There are a range of contact services which can be used depending on your situation and the level of risk, including supervised contact, supported contact and handover service. Search for local centres on our website https://lnkd.in/d5RBGwE NACCC is responsible for the accreditation and standards of our members – providing high quality training, guidance and peer support. We also represent the needs of families using contact services at government level and in the family courts. https://lnkd.in/eB6KVpYu
