Latest points update after Knoxville (Trent Gower Photo)

Keep up with the chase for the 2024 World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car championship.

LATEST RACES: Knoxville Raceway (June 14-15)

CURRENT POINTS LEADER: David Gravel and the Big Game Motorsports crew continued to prove they’re one of, if not the fastest cars in Sprint Car Racing right now. With massive fields of more than 60 cars both nights at Knoxville, Gravel won Friday and came home fourth on Saturday, making him the only driver in the top five both nights. Gravel’s lead atop the standings grew from 10 markers to 56.

MOVERS:

Donny Schatz (+1): Friday could’ve been a disaster for Donny Schatz as his qualifying effort slotted him in a Non-Qualifier. But the 10-time Series champion dug himself out of the early hole and punctuated the night with a 21st to 10th charge in the Feature. Then, on Saturday he took the Tony Stewart/Curb Agajanian Racing No. 15 to his 10th podium of the season with a second-place run. The two finishes extended his top 10 streak to 13 in a row and pushed him back to the runner-up spot in points.

Carson Macedo (-1): It wasn’t the trip to Knoxville that Carson Macedo and Jason Johnson Racing were hoping for. Runs of 21st and 16th were the end result for Macedo. He surrendered a lot of ground in the title chase as he went from second in points to only 10 markers behind Gravel to third and 76 back of the top spot.

CLOSING THE GAP:

Giovanni Scelzi (4th): It was a solid home game for the Des Moines, IA-based KCP Racing as Giovanni Scelzi took the No. 18 to finishes of eighth and 12th. The Series sophomore now has only 10 points separating him from the third spot in the standings.
