Story
When Brian Holloway (Jack Quaid, The Boys) was hired by famous horror author Paul Robinette (Titus Welliver, Bosch) to crack an antique safe in his home, he had no idea what he was about to encounter. Opening that safe door unleashed something sinister — something that continues to haunt him. But what exactly? And can whatever slipped through that threshold be stopped?

Great short story. I loved it. Narration was extremely good. That’s a big compliment from me considering I HATE ASMR and have misophonia.

Holy cow! This was so incredibly good. I don’t even have words to write this review.
The story is really well written but truly the voice talent makes this Audible over the top excellent.
5 thousand stars all around.
This, right here, is the only reason I spend copious amounts of time on this app searching for the one golden nugget. So many times I just want to give up on Audible but then I find a book like this and it makes all the wasted time and effort worth it.
Highly recommend! I’m still agog. It was sooooo good!

Story
Some places seem too beautiful to be touched by horror. Summit Lake, nestled in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains, is that kind of place. But two weeks ago, Becca Eckersley, a first-year law student and daughter of a powerful attorney, was brutally murdered there. Now the town is reeling with grief, and the police are baffled.

Can’t get past the narration
Reviewed: 06-13-23
I really did try to enjoy this story but I couldn’t get past the narrator’s voice. It was so robotic and sounded like AI most of the time. You could hear her focus on over enunciating all the “t”s, no matter where in the word the letter fell. It took any and all inflection opportunities away.
The story seemed like it could be good(?) but I just can’t listen to an AI tell a story

Truly unique, exactly what I wanted

I loved this book. This is exactly what I want in an Audible Original. The length was perfect (one personal-sized jigsaw puzzle length). This story isn’t a mystery, isn’t a love story, isn’t any kind of “wash, rinse, repeat” trope. It’s the kind of story that you’ll kind of always just remember. I’m very happy to have found it. What a very cool story! It was fartastic. ;-) Worth every single minute.

My Favorite One, so far...
Reviewed: 01-18-21
This book is the best of Wooster and the best ending so far. I am in love with Jeeves and Wooster and all the friends and relations. This book should only be enjoyed after you’ve become well acquainted with the whole set of characters and their back stories, IMO. I only say that because this book is truly amazing and should be honored by the reader’s full appreciation of the characters. It’s a full length story, the second full length Jeeves book I’ve listened to so far. I am listening to them in order so I’ve listen to several of the short stories as well but you don’t need to go in order. However, each story does have at least one reference to a previous tale so I’d recommend reading them in order just catch the inside references. Also, I’m sticking with Cecil narrating. His story telling is just way too much fun. No one else can voice Wooster’s fop-headed innocence like him. I can’t get enough. I’m addicted. 😀
Loved this book!!!

Story
Bertie Wooster's newfound enthusiasm for the banjolele results in his eviction from his apartment and, to his outrage, having to take notice from his hitherto devoted manservant, Jeeves. Repairing to the country with his banjolele and new valet, Brinkley, Bertie soon finds himself in no shortage of trouble. A visit to an American yacht ends with him locked in a stateroom by a prospective father-in-law.

It’s 1000x a “yes, yes yes!!!”
Reviewed: 01-16-21
I have listened to about 5-6 Jeeves and Wooster books now. I tried one other narrator and even the TV series with Hugh Laurie. No one can do it like Cecil though. No one. In caps: NO ONE. His narration of the characters is so three dimensional. The transitions of characters during back and forth conversations by one narrator could not be done better. The inflection and tone he gives them really embody the uniqueness of each character. I think much of the comedy might be lost on me if not for Cecil’s incredible skill at narration. He doesn’t just narrate, he acts the scenes out fully. Dash it all, I’m hooked!
