Publisher's summary

Everyone expected Violet Sorrengail to die during her first year at Basgiath War College – Violet included. But Threshing was only the first impossible test meant to weed out the weak-willed, the unworthy, and the unlucky.

Now the real training begins, and Violet’s already wondering how she’ll get through. It’s not just that it’s grueling and maliciously brutal, or even that it’s designed to stretch the riders’ capacity for pain beyond endurance. It’s the new vice commandant, who’s made it his personal mission to teach Violet exactly how powerless she is – unless she betrays the man she loves.

Although Violet’s body might be weaker and frailer than everyone else’s, she still has her wits – and a will of iron. And leadership is forgetting the most important lesson Basgiath has taught her: Dragon riders make their own rules.

But a determination to survive won’t be enough this year.

Because Violet knows the real secret hidden for centuries at Basgiath War College – and nothing, not even dragon fire, may be enough to save them in the end.

Adapted from the novel and produced with a full cast of actors, immersive sound effects and cinematic music!

PART 2 WAS THE ABSOLUTE BEST

The battle music, the characters, the voice actors, the amount of love poured into this is felt and I was in TEARS! So good!!!!

Better performance than part 1

Not sure what changed, but the narrations were much better in part 2 than in part one. I’d say they are close to Fourth Wing level performances. Sgaeyl’s voice was, I believe, the same VA, but the voice was wrong, so that was disappointing. Gabriel Michael stepped up his game, a vast improvement over part one. (The throne scene 🥵🥵)

I hope all the VAs return for Onyx Storm.

Great story but slightly disappointed.

I absolutely LOVED the graphic audio of Fourth Wing, both parts, but was kinda disappointed in the Iron Flame ones. I like to read the story as I listen to it and there were a few scenes they cut that I think should have been put in but overall, I loved it. Highly recommend them. If I hadn't read the book first and didn't know what scenes were cut, I'd have enjoyed it more. But over all as I said, very good.

Riveting, action packed and full of romance

Love the graphic audio versions and have also read the two books available. Love the voices so far with the exception of Catriona’s. She’s a significant character in the second part of Iron Flame and I don’t feel like her catty personality or beauty was captured properly but overall the graphic audios are great. She’s not significant enough to put me off. Overall, tho, the voice casting is great - Xaden, Violet, Rhiannon’s spunk, love Varrish’s perfidiousness to name a few - but in this one, Cat’s is disappointing. And, not sure if it’s because I actually read Iron Flame part 2 first as opposed to listening to the graphic audio first, but there are certain scenes in this one I feel don’t flow properly but rarely felt that with the prior audios. Still enjoying this immensely. Cannot wait for Onyx Storm!

Regarding the overall storyline for this series, people should know that the dialogue is fairly modern and there’s cursing but it’s not overused, and the romantic steamy scenes would make it, in my opinion, inappropriate for young teens. But the heroine goes through a journey overcoming not only her own physical hindrances and insecurities, but the nearly everyone else’s low expectations of her. I LOVE her journey and how she learns that she can’t shy from challenges if she wants to survive but needs to face them head on. And she’s surrounded by loving, respectful, and supportive friends and love interests. The action doesn’t stop. Keeps me riveted to know what will happen next. It’s a great series so far.

Excellent story, cast and very well acted… but for one.

Love the story, the action and almost all the cast is absolutely superb… but I’m disappointed with the casting of Katriona. That actress’s delivery is stiff and forced and just off the mark. Too bad for a character that could’ve sounded lovely and deliciously snarky or evil.
Thank you for the great “ reads” with this series Rebecca Yarros!! I’m a fan!
