AUGUSTA, Maine — The Augusta Police Department issued a shelter-in-place order for a section of Riverside Drive Friday into Saturday while searching for a man considered armed and dangerous.
Police responded to 480 Riverside Drive at about 1 p.m. Friday for the report of a domestic assault, according to Chief of Police Kevin D. Lully.
Justin M. Larrabee, 40, threatened his family and displayed a gun, but fled the home before police arrived on scene, Lully said. Larrabee is wanted on charges of domestic assault, criminal threatening and violation of conditions of release, among other charges.
As of noon Saturday, Larrabee remains at large. He is considered armed and dangerous and Lully warned members of the public not to approach him. If you see Larrabee or have any information pertaining to his whereabouts, Lully said to call police at 207-626-2370.
Riverside Drive was closed between Route 3 and Stevens Road but was reopened for motorists at 2 a.m. Saturday and the shelter-in-place order was lifted just before noon.
“We are still urging the community to continue to be safe and vigilant, and we will provide more information as it becomes available,” Lully said in a statement.
Maine State Police says it is assisting with this investigation.
