This Dibs Ice Cream Escort Card Display Is Going Viral on TikTok—And It’s Seriously the Coolest

One duo kept everyone comfortable at their summer wedding with an early-aughts treat that guests enjoyed more than the bar.

As far as wedding trends go, there’s one key décor element we hope always sticks around: personalized seating charts or escort card displays. While plenty of couples still opt for simple folded cards arranged on a table, more and more duos are pointing guests towards their seats via a customized experience, using details that drive their love story, highlight one of their favorite things or foods, or connect directly to one of their big day’s central themes, whether it’s their venue type, color palette, or overarching aesthetic.

At Brides, we’ve seen it all: A floating miniature hot-air balloon setup (an homage to the bride’s late father, who loved them), a display with mini IKEA chairs to reinforce the included Mean Girls quote, “You can sit with us,” and even an edible mini market concept, complete with fresh strawberries that doubled as favors, at a farm wedding. We love watching couples iterate on this trend, since it can have a huge payoff in terms of the guest experience—after all, these next-level escort card displays are fun, interactive, and one-of-a-kind, and set the tone for the party to come.

That’s exactly why one couple’s genius concept—a Dibs ice cream bar, built by Maxwell Builds & Designs—is going viral on TikTok. In a video posted by wedding planning firm CMG Events, the company responsible for the display’s design concept, you can see guests approaching the setup, which was frozen from the inside out, and pulling personalized cartons of the duo's favorite early-aughts dessert out of small, built-in cubbies. The cartons were color coded by table using shades of the pair’s neutral wedding color palette; up above, a clever quote, “Did someone call dibs on Diangson,” nodded cheekily to the cocktail hour desserts inside and the pair's married last name.

The video currently has over 684,000 views and 50,000 likes, and was an immediate hit on the platform; strangers and actual guests alike took to TikTok to share their thoughts about the creative idea. “I was a guest at this wedding and that wall was amazing!” one user wrote. Someone else brought up the nostalgia element (who didn’t love Dibs as a kid?): “This would have been our dream when we were little,” she wrote, tagging her best friend.

Another fan touched on one of the display’s biggest benefits—a refreshing departure from Champagne walls or shelves of tequila shots, the ice cream-filled structure was for everyone, including those who didn't drink (and it must have been a major hit with kids). “This is good and better for ppl who don’t drink,” this person wrote. The team at CMG Events wrote back, acknowledging that drinkers and nondrinkers alike were thrilled: “Not sure if people were more excited for the Dibs or the bar. I think it was the Dibs.”
