As Associate Director, Auto Test Development at Consumer Reports’ Auto Test Center in Colchester, Connecticut, Alex Knizek ensures CR’s testing and reporting reflect what is important to consumers and are current with technological advancements in the industry. He is part of a team that tests and rates more than 50 autos every year. In addition, Alex tracks year-over-year changes of all makes and models, watching for industry-wide trends and drawing on CR’s research, testing, and surveys. He writes “First Drive” reviews for new models and offers insights on CR’s Talking Cars podcast and social media channels including YouTube and TikTok.
Prior to CR, Alex was a Product Manager at Stanley Black & Decker, where he worked on the expansion of the automotive specialty tool category. He was previously an Ergonomics Engineer at Ford Motor Company, where he worked on the design of interior components and infotainment systems, benchmarked competitive vehicles, and conducted usability testing.
Alex holds a master’s degree in automotive engineering from Clemson University and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Western New England University.
