UPDATED:

For the second year in a row, Colorado has sold out of season tickets for the football season, the school announced Monday.

Entering head coach Deion Sanders’ second season, which kicks off Aug. 29 against North Dakota State at Folsom Field (6 p.m., ESPN), the Buffaloes continue to set a higher standard than usual in ticket sales.

Last year was the first time in 27 years that CU sold out of season tickets and it wound up being the first time in program history that the entire season was sold out. Last year and this year are also the only times when season tickets were sold out before August.

Overall, this is just the 10th time in program history that season tickets have sold out. CU sold out of season tickets in 1972 and then during a seven-year run from 1990-1996.

“Selling out of season tickets for the second year in a row shows how strong our fan base is and the continued impact of and trust in Coach Prime,” CU athletic director Rick George said. “We are ready for an exciting 2024 season and expect a full house for every game for the second straight season.”

This is also the second year in a row where the Buffs’ season ticket renewal rate finished above 98%, the two best marks in school history. CU was at 93% on renewals in 2016 and 96% in 2017, but was in the mid to low-80s in 2021 and 2022.

It’s unclear exactly how many season tickets have been sold for this year. CU has provided season ticket sales numbers in the past, but has declined to provide that information the last two years.

Since 2005, CU has typically sold between 19,000 and 22,000 season tickets in most years. From 1990-2003, CU sold at least 25,730 season tickets each year and sold more than 30,000 in the late 1970s. CU sold 19,599 season tickets in 2021, the last year that data was provided.

In addition to the season tickets, CU will offer just under 12,000 student sports passes and those will go on sale July 10 at 10 a.m. MT. Some of those passes will be held until August for new students.

Single game tickets will go on sale to the public on Tuesday.

In addition to North Dakota State, CU’s home schedule will include five conference games as it returns to the Big 12. The Buffs will host Baylor (Sept. 21), Kansas State (Oct. 12), Cincinnati (Oct. 26), Utah (Nov. 16) and Oklahoma State (Nov. 29).
