FACTS AND STATS: A record 17 years since his first, evergreen Hamilton takes his 104th F1 win

The headline stats surrounding 2024’s British Grand Prix inevitably focus on the remarkable longevity of its winner, Lewis Hamilton, who either broke or extended several F1 records as he beat Max Verstappen and Lando Norris to victory at Silverstone. Here’s those, and a few others for good measure…

• Hamilton today ended a 56-race streak without a win – his last was Saudi Arabia 2021.

• It was his ninth win at Silverstone – an F1 record at a single circuit.

REPORT: Hamilton beats Verstappen to first win since 2021 with record-breaking 9th British Grand Prix victory

• Aged 39 years and 182 days, he is the oldest F1 race winner of the 21st century.

• It was his 12th consecutive Silverstone podium, and his 15th in total at the venue, extending his F1 record for a single circuit.

• Nobody has ever won a Grand Prix beyond their 300th start – this was Hamilton's 344th.

• Hamilton is the sixth race winner in the first 12 races of 2024 – there were only three winners in all of 2023.

• With 17 years and one month between his first career win and this one, Hamilton has the all-time record interval (Kimi Raikkonen went 15 years between wins).

• It was Hamilton’s 150th podium finish for Mercedes and the 199th of his career.

• He is the first driver outside of Norris or the Ferrari drivers to win Driver of the Day in 2024.

• Verstappen took P2 for his 107th podium, moving him into fourth on the all-time table, behind Sebastian Vettel (122), Michael Schumacher (155) and Hamilton (199).

• Verstappen has extended his championship lead to 84 points.

• P3 for Norris was his seventh podium finish of the season.

• McLaren have now finished on the podium at the last eight consecutive races.

• It was Norris’s second consecutive British Grand Prix podium finish.

RACE START: Watch the getaway at Silverstone as Russell keeps Hamilton at bay and Verstappen passes Norris

• Team mate Oscar Piastri finished in P4 - the same position he took at last year’s British Grand Prix.

• Piastri has completed every racing lap in 2024.

• Carlos Sainz was P5 and set the fastest lap on the final lap, moving him to within four points of Ferrari team mate Charles Leclerc in the standings.

• Leclerc finished in P14 and has only scored once in four Grands Prix since winning in Monaco.

• At Haas, Nico Hulkenberg was P6 and thus finished in the top six in back-to-back races for the first time since the 2018 United States and Mexican Grands Prix for Renault.

• For Haas, it’s the first time they have achieved consecutive top-six results since the 2018 French and Austrian Grands Prix.

Another great result for Nico Hulkenberg with P6 for Haas

• At Aston Martin, Lance Stroll in P7 secured his third top-seven finish of the season.

• He beat team mate Fernando Alonso by 7.008s.

• Stroll stays in the championship top 10 by one point over Hulkenberg.

• Alonso’s P8 results was only his second points finish in the last six Grands Prix.

• Alex Albon matched his and Williams' best result of the season with P9 (he also finished 9th in Monaco).

• With P10 for RB, Yuki Tsunoda matched his best-ever Silverstone result, set in 2021.

• In the second Williams, Logan Sargeant came home in P11 for best result of the season, which moves him off the bottom of the drivers' championship.

• And in the second Mercedes, polesitter George Russell retired early and has failed to finish in two of the last three British Grands Prix.
