Looking back, the journey to advanced certification was one of the most challenging yet rewarding experiences of my career. In my experience, there are multiple frameworks to use within the Agile methodology. Each team is different, depending on value being delivered, operations vs new builds vs tech debt. Getting to know your teams is the heavy lift upfront so they can work on what they are good at and learning to become cross functional! Change saturation is a challenge when starting the Agile transformation. Preparing is key and don’t make siloed decisions. Good luck!

I began my career as a programmer & then transitioned into the world of PM. I am extremely grateful for the programming skills that I acquired, as they have been incredibly valuable in the project management realm. Being a programmer isn't just about writing code; it also involves being tech-savvy, a critical thinker, and having the ability to think of solutions in logical steps with failover options. At one point, it felt like I was applying my programming skills directly to project management, almost as if I were inheriting a class! My advice is to acquire additional technical skills. Even if it doesn't seem highly relevant now, once you are immersed in it, you will start connecting the dots and utilizing your new abilities.

In my last experience with a project, Recognizing the complexity of the project, I knew that the first step was to assemble a team with diverse technical expertise. I handpicked senior developers, cloud architects, and a data migration specialist. Each member brought a unique skill set to the table, and together, I formed a powerhouse team. The project kicked off with a detailed analysis of the legacy system. It was a labyrinth of old code, outdated databases, and undocumented processes. Many in the industry would have balked at the challenge, but I saw it as an opportunity to demonstrate my technical prowess and project management skills.

As a Senior Project Manager one must have pretty good exposure in modern days Project Management Software tools as well as advanced Data Analysis modelling. Technology is changing in super-fast mode nowadays. Hence keeping pace with them in today’s AI mesmerized world need to have skilled experts in different domain in Project Team. One thing I have found helpful is building relationships at work, 15 mins to ask how someone is doing can be key that helps get the team across the finish line. I’ve seen multiple leaders not care about resources and expect delivered value. If you take time to care about your humans, they will produce value that exceeds your expectations. This goes for stakeholders as well, there is no secret sauce…. Build relationships on the team you want to be successful with!

One time at work I was lost in the ask from leadership. Very ambiguous. So I started to ask the hard questions so I could formulate a plan to coach everyone else up so the team can get on the same page. Saying I’m not sure what you are saying here is not a sign of weakness, it is open and safe communication. Having a safe environment to do so without finger pointing and blame pays dividends for reaching the goal. I challenge you to step out of your comfort zone and ask the questions to leadership you grow and so do they!

Regardless of your organization’s size, consider establishing similar units nearby. You might be a vendor, while friends work for brands with spare capacity. Evaluate future market impacts cautiously before advocating expansion. Historical data can guide decisions. Knowing local production capacity, even small-scale vendors, helps manage situations effectively. Fair profit sharing safeguards organizational reputation. For growth, support management with market surveys, investments, logistics, recruitment, and training for smoother progress.
