Post covid this has been a regular issue for many airports, and for a variety of reasons. I'm sure onlookers may think overtime solves a shortage, which is true, but what if it's a "long-age". Overtime leads to burn out, unhappy and disappointed staff and ultimately non compliance slips in. Consider to cross skill, using other staff that are less busy in summer, to do non regulated functions, like passenger prep, loading, or just plain customer service. However, remember that AVSEC is our purpose, and additional compliance and quality assurance needs to happen to support non security staff.
