Today, Acadeum is proud to be a part of the historic partnership between North Carolina Independent Colleges & Universities (NCICU) and the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) to launch the first statewide transfer portal. Leveraging Acadeum’s technology, the portal will facilitate the successful transfer and articulation of course credits for students moving between two-year colleges and four-year private colleges and universities in the state. Through the generous support of a $1.3 million collective grant from The Teagle Foundation, The Arthur Vining Davis Foundations, ECMC Foundation, the John M. Belk Endowment, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the new initiative will streamline the transfer process and reduce credit loss, with the objective of replicating this technology in other states. Additionally, the Lumina Foundation has funded an engagement grant to ensure the involvement of NCICU and NCCCS faculty and staff in the development and implementation of this project in North Carolina. This statewide transfer portal is a significant step in addressing the long-standing problems with credit mobility and will support learners by removing common barriers in the transfer process. 🚨 Higher education edtech is a busy space, and it can be hard to keep up with innovation. 🔎 At Emerge, we want to help you see clearly. 🎓 Members of our Higher Education Edtech Leadership Board, chaired by Mary Curnock Cook CBE and in partnership with Jisc, tell us that keeping up to date with the best emerging edtech companies in HE is difficult, confusing and overwhelming. So every year, we publish a list of top edtech companies — crowdsourced from our HE board and further afield — to help university senior leaders see what is out there. By highlighting great practice, we hope to encourage innovation.
