On June 26, MACP and its partners [Associated Industries of Massachusetts, Environmental League of Massachusetts (ELM), Greentown Labs, Massachusetts Business Roundtable, Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation, Mass Mobility Hub, NECEC, The Engine Accelerator] had the pleasure of hosting a Competitiveness Conversation on "Massachusetts Climatetech Leading the Charge" featuring a panel of 4 climatetech CEOs sharing their experiences and insights on the industry in the commonwealth. We were honored to be joined by Julie Bliss Mullen, CEO of Aclarity. A few key points of hers included: 💧 Aclarity has benefited immensely from Massachusetts' supportive ecosystem and has received significant support from organizations like Massachusetts Clean Energy Center and MassVentures. This backing has helped the company to build a strong team and advance its technology. ��� Massachusetts is an ideal place to attract the best talent. Julie highlighted the state's ability to draw professionals passionate about solving massive environmental and public health challenges, which has been crucial for Aclarity's mission. 🏛️ While Massachusetts has been a leader in research, the state has more work to do in developing frameworks and roadmaps - other jurisdictions are luring away climatetech companies with piloting opportunities. 💰 Julie also emphasized the need for more funding, pointing to California's $20 million allocation to water technology as an example for Massachusetts to follow. Streamlining the funding process is also crucial to expedite the deployment of critical technologies.
