Recently, the FDA has accepted a supplemental New Drug Application (sNDA) for brexpiprazole in combination with sertraline to treat adults with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This combination therapy, supported by data from three randomized clinical trials, demonstrated consistent reductions in #PTSD symptoms. If approved, it would be the first FDA-approved pharmacological option for PTSD in over 20 years. A global study by McMaster University confirmed that antacid pantoprazole helps prevent upper gastrointestinal bleeding in critically ill patients on ventilators. The REVISE trial, involving over 4,800 patients across eight countries, showed a significant reduction in bleeding with pantoprazole compared to placebo, though it did not reduce mortality rates. An updated meta-analysis of 12 trials involving 10,000 patients reinforced these findings, showing reduced bleeding risk without significant effects on mortality, pneumonia, or C. difficile infection. A recent study published in PubMed investigates the effects of Semaglutide on chronic kidney disease in patients with type 2 diabetes. Participants were randomly assigned to receive either Semaglutide or a placebo. Over a median follow-up of 3.4 years, the results revealed that Semaglutide reduced the risk of major kidney events by 24%, slowed the decline in kidney function, and lowered the risk of cardiovascular death by 29%. The study concludes that Semaglutide significantly benefits kidney and cardiovascular health in these patients.
