The freedom of choice. The flexibility to decide one's own schedule. The dream of running your own business. These are the stakes as the U.S. Department of Labor implements a new independent contractor classification rule. Please help share Dee, Brian and Gary's stories as we work to defeat this un-American attack on the independent contractor business model. Thank you to Scopelitis Law Firm for their support. #trucking #truckers #truckingindustry

This Congress has been historically unproductive. That’s why ATA is packing trucking's priorities into the few bills that are moving. This week, the House Appropriations Committee advanced two funding bills that would: 🚚Provide $200 million for truck parking 🚚Reverse DOL’s independent contractor rule 🚚Fight predatory towing 🚚Promote hair testing 🚚Protect reforms to the younger driver apprenticeship program 🚚Block disruptive meal and rest break waivers 🚚Halt FHWA’s GHG emissions performance rule 🚚Prohibit congestion tolling 🚚Stop the joint employer rule. 🚚Freeze DOL’s worker walk around regulation

Sheri Call of the Washington Trucking Associations urged Congress to end this $5 billion annual burden on the industry, which would boost our environment, highway safety, and good-paying manufacturing jobs.

DID YOU KNOW… Following two years of major operational costs increases, trucking costs continued to rise across the board in 2023 – despite the recessionary #freight market – though at moderated rates. Excluding fuel, costs rose 6.6 percent in 2023, which was still nearly double the rate of inflation during the same period. Insurance premiums and truck / trailer payments had the highest rate of increase after toll costs.
