💪🏻 A collaboration between Brooks Rehabilitation and the College of Health Professions and Sciences is providing new opportunities for physical therapy education and clinical training in the region. Brooks Rehabilitation has helped the college complete an expansion of its Physical Therapy Clinic by donating several pieces of equipment, including cable columns and shuttle system, both used for exercise prescription and interventions. CHPS and Brooks Rehabilitation will work together in the clinic to offer education and training opportunities for CHPS students studying to become physical therapists and community providers. https://lnkd.in/eXpHG8qe

The Brooks School Re-entry Program (BSRP) is excited to announce its fifth annual school-supply drive for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year! 📘✏️📒🍎📏 Did you know that local public schools have seen a growth in poverty in the student population over the last five years? Unfortunately, many students will begin the new school year without school supplies. There is a great need to support teachers and children in our local community. Please help us to empower and equip the deserving students at two local Title 1 elementary schools in Clay County and Duval County. 👉 Donation boxes will be available at designated Brooks locations. Save the date for our upcoming #ResearchConnection: No Pain, No Gain? Enhancing Pain Modulatory Capacity in Individuals with Widespread Muscle Pain through Exercise. The event will take place July 15 at 7 p.m. Pain management strategies in rehabilitation are typically aimed at reducing or eliminating pain through movement, modalities, and/or manual therapies. These treatments have been generally unsuccessful in relieving pain intensity and may increase pain vulnerability. We posit that human pain modulation is like other body systems that adapt in response to variable conditions, and that the ability to adapt to change or change is a hallmark of an efficient system. The aim of this presentation is to demonstrate how repeated exposure to muscle pain through exercise may result in adaptions in functional brain connectivity and pain recovery in individuals with widespread muscle pain. 🔗 Register now: https://lnkd.in/eJspM_PJ #WeAreBrooks #BrooksResearch
