Good Shepherd Catholic Church parishioners recently donated 36 fans that will help our clients stay cool in this summer heat wave. We are grateful for their generosity!

About us
Founded in 1956, Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas provides assistance to those in need by helping them help themselves. Our work strengthens both families and communities in the 21 counties we serve. We offer a wide range of specialized programs and services that span from the beginning to life’s end. We help with immediate survival needs including food, clothing and shelter. More than that, we educate, give guidance and provide resources that will result in long-term change. All services provided are based on need — not religion, race or nationality. Our vision is that our neighbors who are challenged by poverty of mind, body and spirit find the open door of Catholic Charities and are met with help, hospitality and hope. Our purpose is to animate the Gospel of Jesus Christ by putting love into action through specialized programs and services for those in need.

Molly had been working as a Certified Nursing Assistant for 38 years, but the physicality of her job was getting to be too much for her age. Molly had always wanted to become a Certified Medication Technician (CMT), but she was afraid she would be unable to go back to a classroom setting and learn everything she needed to know. By joining our St. Rita Program, Molly was able to receive financial assistance and support, ultimately allowing her to receive her CMT license. Molly is so grateful for the program as it will allow her to continue to work with the population she loves to care for while taking less of a toll on her physically.

Our dedicated ReCONNECT volunteers make a real difference in the lives of refugee youth, providing guidance and support as they strive for success. Check out this inspiring testimonial from one of our volunteers. “Because of my background in education, I understand how confusing the educational system can be for refugees that are trying to further their studies in the United States. I was recently able to help my mentee navigate his first semester at Johnson County Community College and become more self-sufficient as a college student. Being his mentor has been a great experience. I have gained knowledge too-my mentee has given me so much insight into his home country of Ukraine.” Email workforce@catholiccharitiesks.org or visit our website to find out how you can #GetInvolved! https://lnkd.in/gtwy4HRN

A young woman visited our Wyandotte County Family Support Center (FSC) looking for rental assistance. The woman had recently lost her job and had a newborn. An FSC case manager was able to help the young mother pay two months' rent, provide her access to our food pantry, set her up with our Happy Bottoms partner program to get diapers for her child, and also help her seek employment assistance. Without the help of Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas, the young mother would have been evicted and left to live on the street with her newborn. Your continued gifts of hope help us fund programs and services that aid vulnerable communities. Thank you for your ongoing support! Click here to donate: http://ow.ly/rX2L50KQMF8.
