This summer, Mondays mean game night at New York Avenue Men’s Shelter. Seven members of the St. John's College High School baseball team and their dads set out games on tables in the shelter cafeteria. Chess, Jenga, Connect Four, Backgammon and other games and activities are available as the high school students welcome some friendly competition. The #volunteers also set up and serve dinner to residents. It’s a home run for all, as these volunteers bring a sense of community and caring to residents of the D.C. shelter. #CCADW #communityservice #volunteerism #volunteering #washingtondc

Volunteers, staff and partners from Catholic Charities’ dental clinics and Mission of Mercy dental event gathered at the dental program’s annual volunteer appreciation event. New, former and soon to be volunteers got to meet with Dr. Lucciola Lambruschini, director of dental services, and District of Columbia Dental Society president, Dr. Cheryle Baptiste, DDS, FICD, FIAMDI. Attendees also had the opportunity to hear from this year’s guest speaker, Angela Noguera DDS, MS, a long-term volunteer with Catholic Charities.
