This summer, Mondays mean game night at New York Avenue Men’s Shelter. Seven members of the St. John's College High School baseball team and their dads set out games on tables in the shelter cafeteria. Chess, Jenga, Connect Four, Backgammon and other games and activities are available as the high school students welcome some friendly competition. The #volunteers also set up and serve dinner to residents. It’s a home run for all, as these volunteers bring a sense of community and caring to residents of the D.C. shelter. #CCADW #communityservice #volunteerism #volunteering #washingtondc

“I chose this volunteer opportunity to serve others who may need a helping hand in life,” said Jason Lising, volunteer at the New York Avenue Men’s Shelter. “I have come to be friends with several residents and staff. I don’t mind just being there with them, present and available. When someone wants to talk, I’m glad to lend an ear.” Learn more about on-going roles during this year’s fall call to volunteering initiative. https://bit.ly/3zsZYex #CatholicCharitiesDC #FallCallToVolunteer #Volunteer #Volunteerism #AnswerTheCall #Volunteer #WashingtonDC #Maryland
