“𝐼𝑠 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑒 𝑎𝑛𝑦𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑤𝑒 𝑐𝑜𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑒𝑑 𝑜𝑟 𝑑𝑖𝑑𝑛’𝑡 𝑐𝑜𝑣𝑒𝑟 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑤𝑜𝑢𝑙𝑑 𝑚𝑎𝑘𝑒 𝑦𝑜𝑢 ℎ𝑒𝑠𝑖𝑡𝑎𝑛𝑡 𝑎𝑏𝑜𝑢𝑡 𝑚𝑒 𝑖𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑟𝑜𝑙𝑒?” I’ve started asking that question at the end of every interview and it’s been a revelation. It took a leap of courage to ask it the first time, but I’m so glad I did. There are three main reasons I think it’s a total game changer: 1️⃣ 𝐈𝐭 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐨𝐧 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 𝐰𝐞𝐧𝐭 The most nerve-wracking part of nearly every interview is wondering how it went and playing it back in your head. By asking this question, you can at least get a bit of a sense of what the interviewer is thinking. Their response and — especially — body language can often give an indication of whether they think it went reasonably well, pretty poorly, or just kind of meh. Don’t take it as confirmation, but as a potential signal. 2️⃣ 𝐈𝐭 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐚 𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 If the interviewer answers truthfully, this question provides a valuable opportunity to address some reservations they might have about you. Maybe they would have liked you to go deeper on how you use data or how you manage stakeholders. That information gives you the chance to fill that gap. If you have time during the interview, sharing an example where you showcase those skills can be a good idea. If not — or if you have other questions you want to get through — use your follow-up email to share a brief example that might demonstrate those abilities. 3️⃣ 𝐈𝐭 𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞 Every company wants proactive employees with high agency and that are deeply connected to the work. Asking a question like this is another data point that signals you’re playing an active role in the hiring process rather than sitting back and waiting for the interviews to pass. While it won’t save a bad interview, soliciting this kind of tough feedback directly on the call might help an interviewer that was on the fence about you that you’re worth a chance. ------------------ Shoutout to the inimitable Claire Vo for this question in her fantastic interview with Alisa Haman on ChatPRD's YouTube channel. Not in the short term. Things will be business as normal. However, the gaps will widen. This is where folks will be left behind. Similar to how AGI won't just suddenly happen. It will be a series of events. All stacked on top of each other. That will lead to Artificial General Intelligence. The same goes for PMs that don't adapt. That don't empower themselves. That don't stay up-to-date. That allow themselves to become obsolete. What can you do? What action can you take right now? How can you take back that control? Educate and apply. Start with a PRD. Visit ChatPRD and sign up for a free account. Use one of two options: 1. Use a pre-made prompt that's done for you. 2. Use your own PRD as the start of a prompt. Use ChatPRD as a thought partner. Not that I want to help AI steal my job, but I can show you how exactly it is going to do it. Or, more optimistically, how it can make our lives easier until it does. 😉 Recently, I discovered ChatPRD. This tool helps draft your requirements documents, so you don’t need to start from scratch. It not only structures existing insights but also highlights gaps and suggests potential solutions to the business problems you're working on. Plus, it offers many templates to choose from, making the initial setup even easier.
 Let’s say you had a brief chat with one of the engineers about multiple errors happening in your data warehouse, and the team is only aware of them after an analyst complained about the data not being available to them. Maybe a monitoring and alerting system would help solve this issue? A quick prompt summarizing the problem sent to ChatPRD and voila—you have a document that you can put in front of the team to have a more detailed conversation about whether this is something you can incorporate into your roadmap. While the results from ChatPRD will obviously need to be tweaked and corrected to fit your business needs more precisely, it provides a fantastic starting point to skip staring at a blank page stage. ⚠️ Important Note: Please check your company’s policy on AI use before you start. When using ChatPRD, please ensure not to upload or type any sensitive information. Always prioritise data security and confidentiality in your documentation process.

I have been experimenting with Claire Vo's ChatPRD over the last few days. ChatPRD is an AI tool specifically for Product Management and helps write Product Requirement Documents. I am usually sceptical about content created by AI for the way it sounds and reads. But ChatPRD has been surprisingly different. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘀: • It can create a very good first draft with all the structure that a good PRD must have. • It is a time saver. What used to take me hours now takes minutes. • It is a good tool for brainstorming ideas. It can even identify gaps and give you feedback on your existing PRD. 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀/ 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱: • It lacks context for your particular business, customer, and market. You can try to feed in that information. But the PRDs can be slightly generic at times. I'm sure this will improve over time. • It will not cover all aspects of your requirements. So, don't forget to treat it like a first draft and build on it. • At 15 USD a month for the Pro version, I think it is a bit pricey for the Indian market. INR 499 per month is probably the sweet spot. PMs in my network- I highly recommend giving it a spin. The biggest takeaway for me is that writing PRDs/ specification documents alone may no longer be a key skill. PMs who can bring strategic nous, customer empathy, product design sense, and problem-solving skills will be valued more (as they should be).
