Thank you to everyone who attended the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) Summer Symposium in Chicago last week! It was an honor for the Chicago Housing Authority to host housing professionals a.k.a “housers” from across the country. The conference theme, “The Past and Future History of Housing,” was fitting as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the voucher program and the soft opening of the National Public Housing Museum while fostering collaboration and collective impact. Highlights of the symposium included insightful discussions led by Cheryl B., informative property tours, an opening conference speech by CHA CEO Tracey Scott, a closing speech given by CHA Board President angela hurlock, and opportunities to connect with esteemed leaders and housing advocates such as Chicago’s Mayor Brandon Johnson and U.S. Congressman Danny Davis. Attendees were officially welcomed with a delicious treat from Chicago's very own Garrett’s Popcorn. We appreciate the dedication and commitment of all who participated and look forward to continuing our collaborative efforts to improve housing for all. #NAHRO2024 #WeAreGladYouAreHere
