About us

The City of Homestead is the second oldest city in Miami-Dade County and celebrated its Centennial in 2013. Homestead lies near the southern-most tip of Florida, where sunny days are in the majority and the average temperature is 75 degrees. The City's Historic Downtown encompasses 11 city blocks that comprise an area of approximately 12 acres. Recently, the City embarked on a dramatic Downtown Revitalization Project designed to breathe new life into the Historic District with a variety of public and private projects and partnerships. Ten miles west are the vast mangrove forests and watery sawgrass plains of Everglades National Park, a subtropical wilderness that shelters alligator and ibis, eagle and manatee. To the east and south are Biscayne Bay and its underwater national park, the Florida Keys and the Atlantic Ocean. Thirty miles north is Miami, "Gateway to the Americas," and one of the country's exciting international cities.

City of Homestead Launches New Website Domain The City of Homestead is pleased to announce the launch of its new website domain, www.homesteadfl.gov effective June 17th, 2024. This significant update marks a pivotal moment in the city's digital evolution, replacing the previous domain with a fresh and more intuitive web address that increases cybersecurity and provides residents with peace of mind when interacting with government entities online. Use of the .gov top-level domain fosters more secure communication, reinforcing trust and reliability in digital interactions. Although we will be using www.homesteadfl.gov as our primary domain, the previous domain (www.cityofhomestead.com) and city emails will remain active, to ensure no loss of communication. However, it would be worthwhile to bookmark the new web domain and update your City contacts as soon as possible. City email addresses will also be updated to reflect the new domain. Here is what the website URL and emails would look like in practice. Website: www.homesteadfl.gov Emails: example@homesteadfl.gov While the domain may have changed, residents can rest assured that they can still access the same reliable information and stay updated on city news and events.
