About us
We are innovative local government leaders with a passion for connecting, communicating and educating. We provide educational offerings that address new trends and ways we can proactively respond as local government professionals. We believe we can make a difference in people’s lives and communities. We believe telling stories about people, ideas, trends and approaches in local government is the best way to make a positive difference. We believe that working creatively, harder and smarter makes our professional association unique, relevant and timely. We believe that building a network of support will attract and retain the best and brightest to the local government profession. We believe that anyone with a passion for public service can become a member, and understand that there is no longer one path to leadership.

We’re so excited to see your Summer Book Exchange reads! 📚 Thanks for sharing and participating, Samantha!
When I was in 4th grade I entered the social studies fair with a project on women’s rights that had a large focus on Sandra Day O’Connor. In law school I wrote a seminar paper on the Supreme Court, and I’ve remained enamored with her. It’s only fitting that my ELGL: Engaging Local Government Leaders book exchange was a book about her growing up in the American Southwest. A fascinating read.

Please join us in sharing a round of 👏 for departing board member — and all-around local gov star — Ben Kittelson. Ben, thank you for all you’ve done to support and grow the ELGL community and strengthen the public service profession.
Today I had my last Board Meeting as a member of the ELGL: Engaging Local Government Leaders Board of Directors. ELGL Board service has been the most rewarding, challenging, fun, and inspiring experience of my career. I have met some of the most talented and thoughtful people across the country, who love their jobs, this profession, and addressing the biggest issues facing their communities. I love ELGL so much and cannot wait to see what the next Board does to engage the brightest minds in local government. #LocalGov #ELGL #PublicAdministration #Service #PublicService
