"The ability to transport construction materials and other freight by rail is vital to the economy of California and the nation and would be hindered by this regulation." On behalf of AGC of California, Flatiron Senior Vice President Ural Yal recently delivered impactful testimony to the U.S. House of Representatives Transportation & Infrastructure Committee regarding the California Air Resource Board's proposed In-Use Locomotive Regulation. Yal reinforced Flatiron's commitment to sustainability, our clients and the communities where we live and work. We're proud to have leaders such as Ural who are instrumental in driving our industry forward. #TransformingInfrastructure #FlatironPeople #RailInfrastructure
Yesterday, Ural Yal of Flatiron Construction, testified on behalf of the AGC of California before the U.S. House of Representatives Transportation Committee’s Railroads Subcommittee explaining how the California Air Resources Board’s (CARB) new locomotive regulation would increase construction costs and delay infrastructure projects. Thank you, Ural!

There’s light at the end of the tunnel! 🔦 🌟 At the Anderson Dam Tunnel project in Morgan Hill, California, an impressive 1,400 feet of the 1,700-foot tunnel is complete. Dedicated crews will conquer the final 300 feet with the aid of a state-of-the-art microtunnel boring machine. Initially built in 1950, Anderson Dam needs crucial upgrades to meet modern regulations and safety standards to ensure earthquake resilience. As the largest of Valley Water’s 10 reservoirs, Anderson could fit the other nine reservoirs inside it! Valley Water #TransformingInfrastructure #FlatironProject #TunnelProject #DamSafety

Our Flatiron team members do great things to better the community. For example, several departments just teamed up to build more than 90 feet of fencing inside the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge near Denver, making life safer for the hundreds of species that call this beautiful territory home. Our Environmental team traveled to Rocky Mountain Lake Park to plant and weed flowerbeds. Are you looking for a company that values improving the community beyond the work zone? It was an exciting day in Winston-Salem, North Carolina as our Winston-Salem Northern Beltway Eastern Section project team welcomed a very special visitor - Pete Buttigieg, U.S. Secretary of Transportation. Alongside NCDOT, Flatiron team members had the opportunity to guide Secretary Buttigieg through a project tour - sharing details on this vital infrastructure project. Each day, more than 100,000 vehicles and trucks travel through metropolitan Winston-Salem – stressing current roadway infrastructure. The completed Winston-Salem Northern Beltway will include a multi-lane freeway that loops around the northern part of the city. The beltway will help alleviate traffic congestion and improve safety. Funded in part by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill, this $126 million roadway project will extend the eastern section of the Winston-Salem Northern Beltway 1.5 miles between U.S. 311 and I-40. The project includes five new bridges, rehabilitation of three existing bridges and will contain 7.8 million pounds of structural steel. In 2022, Flatiron completed a contiguous section of the beltway which was awarded ENR Southeast 2023 Best Projects Award of Merit. #TransformingInfrastructure #FlatironProject

In recognition of Canada Day, we salute our Canadian teams who successfully collaborate on complex, large-scale infrastructure projects across Canada. These projects build stronger, more sustainable communities. Wishing you and your loved ones, and all who call Canada home, a safe Canada Day. Did you know? • The name “Canada” comes from the word “Kanata” used by the Huron-Iroquois, a native American tribe who lived in Quebec in the 16th century. • Canada didn’t get its official flag until 1965, almost 100 years after it became a country. • Canada officially became its own completely independent country in 1982 with the Canada Act. • The regent of England is the Canadian head of state. #TransformingInfrastructure #CanadaProjects #CanadaDay
