Global Kids, with the support of NYC Department of Education, NYC Department of Youth & Community Development, NYS Office of Children and Family Services and The MacMillan Family Foundation has doubled down on its work to make college accessible to all the young people we serve. During the 2023-24 school-year, we expanded our college access work to over fourteen NYC Public Schools where we serve as the Community School or Out-of-School-Time provider and we are on pace to increase the college acceptance and enrollment rates in these schools over the next three years. Watch this brief video and hear from our Global Kids’ graduates and staff on the impact we have made so far. Also stay tuned for more #CollegeAccessDay posts to see how we are ensuring our Global Kids are #CollegeBound. #GKALLDAY #Educate #Activate #Inspire

About us
Launched in 1989, Global Kids’ mission is to educate and inspire youth from underserved communities to become successful students, global citizens and community leaders by engaging them in academically rigorous, socially dynamic, content-rich learning experiences, both during the school day and after-school. Global Kids is committed to meeting the needs of marginalized youth in under-resourced schools and neighborhoods of New York City. Through leadership development, academic enrichment and digital learning programs, Global Kids uses interactive, experiential methods to educate youth about critical international and public policy issues, and inspire them to take action. In 2016-2017, Global Kids reached over 10,000 youth and educators through face-to-face programs. Despite multiple barriers to success, 99% of Global Kids high school seniors graduated high school, and 93% went on to college, many receiving financial support and scholarships because of experiences gained through Global Kids.

On this #ThankfulThursday, we express sincerest gratitude for Global Kids’ VP of IT & Operations, Alan Kaula, recipient of this year’s Evie Hantzopoulos Staff Excellence Award at last month’s Annual Gala, held on May 7th at the Council on Foreign Relations. Our milestone 35th year of serving NYC youth also marks an incredible 10-year milestone in Alan’s GK journey. During his decade of service with Global Kids, Alan has worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that our network of youth development professionals is able to operate on a day-to-day basis, and that our staff and students have the tools and technology they need to be successful. This past year in particular, Alan was instrumental in securing and moving the GK Headquarters into our beautiful, brand-new space in midtown Manhattan, and has gone above and beyond to ensure that it will be a safe and welcoming space for both our staff and our youth. Thank you, Alan, for all the incredible work that you do for Global Kids! #ITprofessionals #gratitude #staffappreciation #nonprofit #GKAllday
