Last month, HDC was proud to participate in the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency Multifamily Affordable Housing Conference. Members of HDC’s Resident Services and Property Management team presented several workshops, including Centering Residents to Support Wellbeing, Elevating Resident Voices Through Community Meetings, and Going Beyond my Perspective and Understanding Trauma Informed Service Delivery. At HDC, we know that living in one of our communities is a choice. Our residents have the power to make choices about their future. HDC aims to treat every resident with compassion, respect and without judgment. A safe place to call home is a cornerstone for household stability and growth, where residents can experience joy and feel hopeful about tomorrow. Opportunities like the PHFA Multifamily Affordable Housing Conference are a great opportunity to share expertise, gain insight, and learn more from high-quality housing organizations from across the Commonwealth. Thank you to PHFA for hosting, and to all organizations who participated and presented! #affordablehousing #strongcommunities #empoweredresidents #residentservices #equity #collaboration

We are thrilled to have the fourth #supplierdiversity roundtable discussion this week, engaging general contractors, architects, and professional service partners in a roundtable discussion. We cannot do the work of creating #economicopportunity for small, minority-owned, women-owned, and special designations alone. The collective commitment we all have is what's necessary to promote equity and make change in the communities we work in. As proponents of economic opportunities in the construction, design, and architectural fields, we all share a commitment to advancing equity through increased contracting with small and diverse-owned businesses. Special thanks to KMA Design Studio for hosting this roundtable discussion, Gopi Patel of PSquared Consulting Engineers and Ryan Sanders of RB Development for guest speaking, and Conshy Girls Restaurant Group for catering. HDC is happy to join in celebrating #NeighborWorksWeek, highlighting the critical work that NeighborWorks America does for affordable housing organizations like HDC across the country. HDC is a proud charter member of NeighborWorks America, a network of nearly 250 nonprofit organizations that work together to create affordable housing, support residents, and strengthen communities. At HDC, we believe in working at every level to foster equitable housing options where people have choice and power in determining their future. Together, we are using our voices and actions to affect positive, meaningful change. Last week, Staff from U.S. Senator John Fetterman joined HDC MidAtlantic and Landis Communities to tour our planned affordable senior housing community, Cornerstone Apartments at 6th and Chestnut, an #adaptivereuse of a long-term vacant and obsolete engineering building, located in the city of #ReadingPA. This transformative development will create 46 high-quality affordable apartments for seniors over the age of 62 through the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program, pending a successful #LIHTC award. Thank you, Madeleine Marr, Sabrina A. McLaughlin-Willinsky, and Olivia Reneau, for taking the time to visit us and for your continued advocacy at the federal level that helps us achieve our mission, build capacity, and get things done in the Commonwealth. Without the support of NeighborWorks America and the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program, proposed affordable housing communities like Cornerstone Apartments would not be possible. Thank you, Senator John Fetterman for your leadership and support of these programs. #AffordableHousing #strongcommunities #LIHTC #advocacy National NeighborWorks Association Affordable Housing Tax Credit Coalition

HDC is a proud charter member of NeighborWorks America, a network of nearly 250 nonprofit organizations that work together to create affordable housing, support residents, and strengthen communities. Our top priority is the safety of staff and residents. HDC prioritized a comprehensive safety assessment at each of our 72 affordable housing communities to identify necessary upgrades. HDC was graciously awarded $16,000 from NeighorWorks to support these upgrades including the installation of cameras, panic buttons, and door barricades. Thank you to NeighborWorks, for supporting work being done around safety for both residents and staff. We could not do the work of ensuring everyone has a safe, welcoming, affordable place to call home without your support! #affordablehousing #strongcommunities #NWweek #empoweringcommunities #neighborworksweek #workplacesafety #safety #residentsafety

HDC was thrilled to welcome friends, advocates, service providers, residents, and more to the Brandywine Center for our Chester County networking event hosted alongside our partners at The Alliance for Health Equity. HDC is committed to connecting residents to services and programs that support housing stability so that they can reach their full potential, meet personal goals, and not just to survive, but to thrive while living in an HDC community. We know that we cannot achieve this, and our mission, without collaboration with like-minded partners.
