Creating opportunities for students, parents, educators, and employers to have conversations about the career potential that exists right here in our Northeast Ohio hometowns in high-growth fields such as healthcare, IT, and finance can have a significant impact on workforce availability. We are proud of the collaborative partnership between our city's Economic Development department and the Independence Local Schools on initiatives like "Road to Readiness" that encourage communication within the community and give a real-world perspective on in-demand careers, company cultures and expectations, educational requirements, and desired interpersonal and technical skills.
Addressing talent challenges is crucial for bending the curve of Northeast Ohio's economic trajectory. Our VP of Research & Strategy, Jacob Duritsky shared some thoughts on this for Crain's Cleveland Business. Northeast Ohio faces significant challenges like an aging labor force and workforce disparities, despite promising growth opportunities. Recent federal investments in advanced manufacturing highlight our region's potential. To build a robust economy, we must close the talent supply-demand gap and enhance workforce participation among underrepresented communities. Strategies like retaining 55% of college graduates and creating equitable career pathways can drive our success, leading to significant job creation and GDP growth. Collaborative efforts across civic, business, and economic development sectors are essential for a vibrant future. #EconomicDevelopment #WorkforceDevelopment #NortheastOhio #TalentStrategy #CommunityGrowth #TeamNEO #JobsOhio For more details, check out the full article below.
